Hi,

My daughter wanted her own log in for the PS4 so I set up a sub account and stupidly used her correct DoB. Fast forward to playing an age restricted game online, we want to do a split screen and both play but she's not able too. All the help on the PS4 site says that in sub accounts there should be section for Content Restriction but it's not there - I only have Chat/Message, User-Generated Media and Monthly Spending Limit.

Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a work around? I might have to set up a new sub account which is a PITA as I'll have to create a new email for it.

It's a mess, compounded by the individual age restrictions on other services (EA etc.).

As you've found, even though some games are aimed at and are perfect for kids (Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare etc.) and are rated PEGI 7 (or whatever) if you use their correct DOB then they can't play them online despite being 11!

My son at 11 just uses my account most of the time now, so I forgo most of the account protections that the system is designed to provide.

Had the same problem. Set up an account for the boy so he could play various games, he was getting too good for me at split screen Star Wars Battlefront and I wanted to let him play online (with no chat or audio) but I couldn't find a way to let him. So he uses my account now.

I think you have to set the parental controls at master account level, and these propagate to all sub account users.

So you (logged in as the master account) would go to Settings > Parental Controls > Restrict Use of PS4 Features. Parental control level 1 is the lowest; 5 is the equivalent of a 12 year old, so will allow 12, 7, 4 European rated games; set it to 9 and the approximate age is 18, so 'everything'. In a Spinal Tap way the levels go up to 11 smile

The Content Restriction at sub-account is for PS Store content.

Had the same problem and eventually bit the bullet and set up a separate account with a new dob. I wasn't comfortable relinquishing total control by him using my account.

I can do this, it's not this, this is just overall age restrictions. 1 lets you play the simplest of games and nothing else (even Rocket League was banned on this) and 11 allows everything but it doesn't override sub accounts.

New account it is sadly

Cheers for the replies.
