My daughters PS3 has just gone belly up so on the hunt for another one.

Would prefer new if there are any for sale but struggling to find one.

If not, does anyone know a reliable place to get one? CEX and Game spring to mind. Would prefer not to but off ebay as you have no idea what you're getting and no comeback if it lasts 2 minutes.

(BTW - got a PS4 already, but the back catalogue of PS3 games means she really wants another PS3)

Help!

We have one that my son nevertheless uses now he has the PS4. Would be willing to let it go if any use?

That's a very kind offer -thank you. Where are you and how much do you want for it?

Thanks again. spin

I've found ebay to be surprisingly helpful with consoles. I wouldn't recommend buying second hand but there are companies that use ebay to ship new ps3s/ps4s in bulk, some even come with 2 year warranty. Can't beat it smile

I have no issue with buying from ebay or gumtree for second hand PS3 so far (I bought a second one as a back up to my own one I have had since new.)

You can get them very cheap nowadays. Say £50 with cables and controller and some games.

I'd wait till you find someone who has just grown out of it or bought it and hardly used it and wants rid through gumtree. Turn up, see it in action and hand over your £50 and off up the road.

Brand new PS3 are already "collectors items" and cost a fortune, which is completely pointless as you only need a £50 to last a couple of years till a Ps4 is also worth buttons.

I guarantee Gumtree will have a few good options that are posted every day within your local area.

Just in case that doesn't work out, I too have one going spare; bought it right before the PS4 came out just so I could play Last of Us. Will throw in the one game I have left for it as well! PM if interested.

Out of interest, did you get much play time out of the last of us? I am way behind on console games and feel like checking some of the 'old' games out. I am not very good at shoot em ups with console controllers though so I am looking for stuff that is as much about exploring and open world stuff.

Suffice to say it's one of my favourite games of all time! I have the remastered version for PS4 now and I have a play through maybe once a year - still trying to complete it on its hardest difficulty setting. It's not an open world/sandbox game like (eg) Far Cry, but from a story telling perspective it's one of the best.

Sounds like it is worth a look! I have just picked up Far Cry 3 and I keep getting eaten by beasties while trying to be stealthy smile

When in town this afternoon I nipped into CEX on the off chance that they had anything in that'd catch my eye. I was surprised to see they offer a 24 month warranty so bought a PS3 SS 500GB there and then. Eases my mind to know that it's covered for 2 years regardless of what my daughter does to it smile

Thanks again for all the offers and advice smile
