Messages from Randoms on PS4

Is anyone else getting random messages from randoms on the PS4, normally come during sleeping hours and just saying hello?

I got a couple, I think it was because I was part of a group connected to the GTA Heists subreddit. I've not had any since I left the group.

Maybe check to see if you're in any open access groups.

I'm on the Battlefield PS community on FB and almost daily there is a new post with someone showing messages from randoms. The replies look automated though.......

Yup same here; tons of randoms adding me to groups that contain only them + me; given I never play multiplayer it was quite odd. Just changed all my settings to private so no-one can message me.

I've been getting it alot lately, ever since I played that COD beta several weeks back. I get the feeling that it's a bot. I just report it right away (and get a nice message back saying they've been suspended).

you can always adjust your privacy settings so that youONLY get messages from friends... but then that means you wont get any funny messages from raging n00bs that you've just pawn'd.

I replied to one and after a few messaged we are getting on really well. Im now waiting for the gold to be delivered to Antwerp.

They're spam bots that will eventually try and link you to some questionable websites.

Block them on receipt, pay them no further mind.

I've had quite a few over recent weeks on the PS4 after I switched on to update the system. It looks like the messages had been waiting for quite a while (I've not used the PS4 for a few months). I never get these spambot messages on my Xbox, for whatever reason.
