Force feedback steering wheels
Discussion
G27 was my first proper wheel. Never had a problem with it. Always worked as it should.
Changed to a T300 last year. It feels a bit more solid. Again, no reliability problems.
Next step would be a direct drive but unless you are very serious about sim racing or have a good disposable for most, it's a bit of a stretch.

I have the Thrustmaster TX 458 wheel, T3PA pedals and the TH8A shifter, have had them for over 2 years now and they're really good.
The only slight issue is that it can under some circumstances be a bit notchy when the settings are too high, this can all be adjusted though and it is very good, not had any proper issues with it.

I usually use a T500rs but it’s in for repair so currently using my G29 backup. Thrustmaster wheels feel smoother more solid and the t3pa pedals are far better than the Logitech ones. Both work well, but I definitely prefer the Thrustmaster, I’m assuming the TX is comparable to the T500rs . If you are permanently hard mounting go with TX but if you have to put it up to use it, then keep taking it down the Logitech stuff is smaller lighter and easier to move about.
Last week I sold my Logitech G920 set up and replaced it with the Thrustmaster TX 458, T3PA-Pro Pedals and TH8A shifter. Compared to the Logitech it is night and day and my package compared to the Logitech is twice as much but worth every penny. Feedback is fantastic it mimics what the car is doing very very well and the wheel is so much smoother over the Logitech offering, I race Dirt 4, iracing and Assetto Corsa.
I have the GT Omega wheel stand so the pedals are set up got/rally style which for me was the selling point on the pedals. The shifter turns to a sequential shifter in a matter of seconds which is great for the immersion in rally games.
Above the feedback and smoothness of the Thrustmaster the other benefits are the option to change out the rim. I am planning on buying F1 2017 and the Ferrari F1 wheel also planning on buying a wheel adaptor which comes in at £40 meaning I can then attach a real world race wheel from Momo / Sparco / omp.
The only potential downside is the reports of the Thrustmaster failing. Only time will tell with this though.

I've been forced to sell my G27 that I've had for ages and never had a problem with because it doesn't work with the new PS 4 Pro. I sold the G27 on Gumtree the same day as the advert appeared.
Bought the G29 no problems at all as long as you remember to switch the little button to PS4. It's a bit more 'cluttered' than the G27 and I can't fault its accuracy, the pedals like the G27 are robust and feel they won't break. Currys had a half decent offer for the G29 a while ago. Haven't bothered with the separate gear assembly as the paddles do a good job. Can't comment on others as I only bought Logitec.

Fanatec gear sits somewhere between the T300 and direct drive stuff. Changed to a T300 last year. It feels a bit more solid. Again, no reliability problems.

Amazon have £80 off the Logitec G920 in their Black Friday deals.

I'd avoid that deal – it *was* £300 for about a year. Then everywhere dropped it to about £170, and there it stayed for a year and a bit. Even Currys was doing it for £160. God knows why it's gone back up!TimmyWimmyWoo said:

Amazon were doing these for £130 over the summer. Unfortunately, it looks unlikely they will come down to that again this time.I've had the TX + TH8A + T3PA for the past year, coming from a Fanatec CSR set-up. All sitting on a GT Omega seat. Didn't like the rubberized standard 458 Sepciale wheel it came with. After some intense races I found it was tacky and left some of the rubber on your hands. Replaced it with the TX Racing Wheel Leather Edition - SOOOOOOOO much better IMO.
As for reliability, not had any issues whatsoever (yet). It is a bit notchy compared to the Fanatec, but I don't notice it really when 'having a sesh!'. I personally am confident in recommending the set-up, but only if you replace the rim. I'm also thinking of getting the sequential shifter for it.

I've had a G25 since GT5:Prologue came out. It's seen a LOT of use in that time, and has remained faultless, even the leather hasn't worn noticeably.
The G27 didn't seem like enough of an improvement to merit the extra money, they're still a gear based wheel so 'notchy' and comparatively loud.
I've been tempted by the Thrustmasters but having never heard any complaints of issues with the Logitech stuff, there just seem to be so many reports of Thrustmaster failures. I know forums tend to bring out the complainers, but even on user feedback threads about wheels, people loved the wheels, but the exceptions were those who were still on their first one, and it's kept putting me off.
The Fanatecs seem to be the next logical step up, but for the money, you're getting fairly close to a direct drive wheel and so that's the next step for me. Will be getting an OSW from https://sim-pli.city/ at some point and some fancy pedals. The TH8A seems popular and reliable though.

Same set up as me but I am on the pro pedals. Agree with the steering wheel, have you seen the Sparco 383 steering wheel. Looks really nice but quite pricey. Tempted to pick up another TH8A to use as a handbrake in analogue mode. As for reliability, not had any issues whatsoever (yet).
