Just ordered a Switch with Zelda (not my normal type of game, though sucked in by the hype) and Mario Kart 8 (always a big fan of the series). This will be my first foray back into video games after about ten years away. Looking for a 'pick up and play' solution as I don't have tens of hours to invest into games these days. I travel a bit so the portable factor certainly appeals.

What are people currently playing and, a few months on, has the reality lived up to your expectations of Nintendo's latest creation?

I have finished Zelda and just started Skyrim.
I think the console is great, the graphics and capability for something portable is very good.
Battery life is certainly acceptable when in portable mode.

Just finished Mario Odyssey which was great. Would also highly recommend Golf Story, great little RPG and an excellent golf game too. Would highly recommend the Switch to anyone and I constantly find myself wishing that everything came out on it, as I love the flexibility it offers.

Currently playing Mario Odessey and started Lego Worlds. I have a Wii U at home so haven't felt the need to buy Zelda or Mario Kart for the Switch yet but that may change soon.

I had the same thought but Zelda is well worth getting on the switch, cant put it down, also just completed Mario Odyssey but want more power moons (at 504 at the moment)

also playing splatoon 2

will get skyrim when completed Zelda.

Is Zelda that much of a different/better experience on the Switch than it is on the Wii U though?

I wouldn't have said so no, if Twilight Princess is anything to go by, the Wii U version will be worth a fortune in years to come in comparison to the much more popular Switch version (Gamecube vs Wii for Twilight Princess). I read at one point that they'd sold more copies of Zelda than they'd actually sold Switches to play it on.
