Many years ago, I used to play a driving game called 1nsane, mainly for the capture the flag game where aggressive driving and battle to get to the flags made it really simple yet a proper laugh!

I no longer have a pc, only a MacBook or my xBox one.. so can’t get a retro gaming fix of it.

Any recommendations for similar type games on xbox? I’ve seen Flatout4 which appears similar?
Just want a non-serious racing type game hopefully with some destruction derby type mini games?

I loved 'Mashed' on the original XBOX for exactly that reason. Just trying to think what's available now that is as much fun, but generally all the driving games seem to be about clean lines through corners and not crazy antics. We did have a cool game called something like 'Tabletop Racers' that was free with PS+ although we had to get rid of it to make room on the hard drive. It's modelled on Micro Machines but IMO is a bit better than the official Micro Machines games. I'll double check the name and get back to you.

Wow that brings back some memories.
I used to work for Codemasters when they brought that out. Many a lunchtime was spent playing multiplayer on the local network (all in the cause of testing of course).

I always enjoyed the Flatout games.

Completely non-serious, drive like an idiot, ram everyone and everything and end up driving over the line missing a wheel. Great stuff.

Burnout Takedown was my first thought and I think it might be on the backwards compatible list. As it happens I went looking for a 2nd hand copy from the like of CEX/game etc as it’s an old game (came out around the time the 360 replaces the original Xbox) but its seemingly rare as everywhere wants at least £15 for it even secondhand! There is a demo available on the 360 store; amazingly it still looks really good, even on a 4K display.

Forza horizon 3 has various game modes, one of which is capture the flag.
I suspect it’s not quite the “smash into everything” that you’re looking for.

Beat me to it! Destruction derby 1 + 2 were incredible.

There was even a special "last man standing" arena for simply smashing your opponents up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alteu2xHjss

OP, I'm fairly sure I've had the Good Old Games version of 1Nsane working on OSX using this porting kit: https://www.paulthetall.com/1nsane-mac/.

We played it over a LAN at work this year and we only have Macs with OSX so it's definitely possible…

I bloody loved that game. Pushed my lowly 100mhz Pentium to its limit. Considering the state of technology at the time the handling physics was excellent. And the soundtrack... I still listen to it. In fact my friends and I had made a tape copy of the music and we used to blast it in my mate's Capri Laser whilst hooning around the country lanes.
why oh why oh why don't they do a reboot
the fans have been clamouring. Activision apparently aren't interested yet they won't release the copyright to let anyone else have a go.

Flatout 4 is currently on sale for the XB1. No idea if it's any good though.

Amazing game that one! And interstate 76 remember playing hours on them, I also remember the twisted metal and vigilante 8 series for total vehicular mayhem! smile

If you're looking for current gen then most have already been mentioned. Unfortunately I don't think Burnout: Paradise's servers are still up thanks to EA being EA however for me that is easily the best game out there for this sort of fun. The PS3 version had a party mode in which you took it in turns to do stunts if you wanted something with local multiplayer.

GTA has online vehicular deathmatch modes, as does the Crew (the crew 2 is coming out next year), along with FH3.

If retro is your thing blow the dust of an old Playstation 1 and buy Micro Machines V3 with a couple of multi-taps, most games I had on that were at uni and if you lost a point it was time for a shot!

Motorstorm series is/were quite good.

It is PS3, however, although I can't imagine a secondhand PS3 would cost much more than the game.

I loved the Motorstorm games! esp Pacific Rift, I wish someone would buy the rights to make a PS4 version

You'll be wanting Wreckfest, which is a development of the 'Next Car Game' engine.

Unfortunately it's still a work in progress at the moment, hopefully it'll be out early 2018 as I've had it on pre-order since February!
