The best? The one that struck you the most? What’s your no.2 gaming experience this year?

For me it’s Firewatch on the Xbox One. Just brilliant and sucked me in from the first moment. Magnificent story telling from start to finish.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild

My first Nintendo and first Zelda - completely changed my perception of how games can be crafted even after 25+ years of playing them. Still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface and am still finding new quirks 80 hours in!

Doesn’t have to be the latest just something you played for the first time this year.

This is the only new game I’ve played this year and as a Zelda fan boy I love it. Reminds me a lot of Link to the Past. We’ve been playing it for weeks and only done 66/120 shrines and have no idea where the rest are. Probably only found half the items but have all 4 divine beasts. We still run away from Lynels and most guardians.

Wolfenstein 2 The new Colossus was pretty epic!, but I always find myself back at BO3 playing zombies online, great fun!

Been meaning to pick up Zelda, that glowing review may have twisted my arm. I need something to get so into.

Any Xbox one recommendations?

For me my favourite thing this year was Rise of the Tomb Raider, played through the whole thing including all expansions, loved pretty much every second. Beautiful to look at, challenging enough, fun gameplay mechanics, intellectually interesting...

Cod ww2 at last back to form. Tbh it's pretty much only game I've bought this year. Although I've just got wolfenstein today so that's tomorrow sorted

Nier: Automata. Not just my game of the year but also my new greatest of all time.

Horizon Zero Dawn for me so far.

Excellent game, not quite as rich as Skyrim but excellent in its own right.

I have Wolfenstein 2, latest COD, Assassins Creed Origins and the Unchartered spin-off still to open and play though.

PUBG for me... just can't stop playing it!
Also favoured this year: Holdfast NAW, Cold Waters, RS2: Vietnam, and Field of Glory 2.

Probably Battlefield 1 for me. The graphics, the way they make German sound so good, the weapons and the variation between the multiplayer maps.

Mafia 3 was actually quite good imo but it didn’t really offer anything to do outside missions compared to Mafia 2 or othe open world games like GTA 5 with simple things like buying food and clothes in one of the clothes stores.

I’m late to the party with this one but last of us remastered is a really great game and one of the best games I’ve ever played, just completed it a few weeks ago.

Been playing Turing test as well recently and what a great game, reminiscent of portal and free to boot through Xbox live. What a mega bargain!

Bit tedious all that walking, but an intriguing story, ultimately lots of plot and nothing happened. Or did it? :-)
