Xbox One X downloading games
Discussion
Ok so I bought an Xbox One X from Costco today. I already had an Xbox one but the optical drive broke so I didn’t bother replacing it as it was worth basically nought and it was extremely tired.
I have Forza Motorsport 7 , GTA V, Dirt Rally, BO2 on disc.
I’m currently installing my little one’s games (Roblox, Rocket League), the 2 games that came with it (digital) (Sea of Thieves, PUBG) and all video apps (All4, Prime Video, iPlayer, YouTube, itv). Most of these are digital, but my question is. With Forza being in the disc drive, will GTA, Dirt and BO2 install without being in the disc drive?
Do I have to wait until next year for all of them to install on my s
tty internet due to have to place the disc in the drive manually for tjem to install? Or will they be prepared for tommorow morning?
Cheers

Your games on disc will have to be installed from the disc and each disc will have to be inserted each time you play. Of course each one will probably have a large update patch as well. Your digital download games will all download and install in the background.
Might be worth taking it over to someone with a better internet connection to do all the updates.

You could do a local network transfer, it's pretty easy and WAY faster than installing from disc again.
Just needs a bit of set up on the old console (enabling transfer) and it needs to be on the same LAN.

Or, if you currently have an external HDD with XB1 games installed on it, just plug it in to your new X, it should detect and ready up the games automatically.
