I go to the ring every year, but I need to learn the track. I've bought a PS4 and a T150 with stand and I'm using Project Cars 2. Are there better games to learn the track?

If PC2 laser scan their tracks (or pay for the data) then it's probably as good as any.

Even when on the track for real, though, remember the car will behave differently to a sim.

Well quite, I've put in a 6:24 on PC2, that's obviously never going to happen, I'll have a much stronger sense of self preservation on the actual track!

About as good as you're going to get on PS4 yeah.

I've got a PC as well with Oculus Rift and it's pretty close on iracing, you really get the sense of the elevation which you don't get without VR.

They're all pretty good these days in terms of learning the circuit layout, but that's about it I'd say.

I'm sure actually driving the circuit in real life won't compare to driving it in game due to real life physics being different, feeling the sense of speed and the weight of the car throwing you around.

Also when you crash in game you don't have to pay for car and circuit damage, nor are you risking your life.

I don't know what PC2 is like - pretty good i imagine. FWIW I like assetto corsa - very good car physics and track detail (esp the bumps) compared to say gran turismo. And much nicer FFB on the wheel too. Graphics aren't quite as good tho.
Try and drive a lap on AC like you do on GTS and you'll be in the wall. At least I am. A lot

GTS however has a "circuit experience" which breaks the track up into different sections which might help you learn the track rather than just trying to get round the whole thing in one go

Assetto Corsa is a better option on PS4. The ring is laser scanned on that.

Having driven it in various console games and PC sims for well over a decade, the first time I did a lap in VR it was like a totally different circuit.

You simply can't get the sense of elevation and scale on a flat screen, so if GT:Sport allows you to drive around the 'ring in VR, that's your best bet in my opinion. If you've got a mate with a reasonable PC and an Oculus or something, Assetto Corsa is frequently under a tenner, this would 100% be worth it, even if just for a few hours to get an idea which would then help give some context to your flat screen practice.
