Day Z players?

Just wondering if anyone on here plays Day Z?

Not for a while now. I played it heavily "Back in the Day" (around five years ago now!) but a recent trip back to the mod last year showed me that it's had its day and there's only a few servers left with plenty of people on now. It seems Bohemia are still working on the standalone version of the mod, (many years later) but as much as I loved this game, I think it's had its day now.

(Saying that I just re-installed ARMA3 so I can try out the Exile mod, which is the same game but without zombies, so I'm still wanting to play it!)

The team I play PubG with are more and more playing DayZ in their spare time.

I've watched their Steam streams a few times. Doesn't seem that much fun from the stream but I am told it is much better to actually play.

Plenty of teething issues with the games and servers etc.

Not played the mod, but I've logged around 100hrs on the standalone version, although not recently. Last time I played was probably over a year ago now, so no idea where they are with development, I'm guessing its still in alpha stage?

The problem I found was playing 'lone survivor' rather than as part of a squad was very unforgiving. No one to watch your back meant very slow progress as you had to approach everything so cautiously, fine to start with but after a while you get impatient, so start running everywhere and get generally more reckless. And then usually get into trouble, or die.

I keep meaning to pick it up again and give it another try. If nothing else I saw they had introduced wolves a while ago, so might be interesting to hunt them down (or get hunted down )

My lads describe it as pre-alpha test environment or some such.
