Hi All,

Just got myself a gaming PC for the first time as a refresh away from the xbox. Currently downloading AC and looking for the best trustworthy place for mods, and any that folk would recommend? Played the vanilla xbox version to death and fancy a change.

Mainly in to road cars, drifting & road racing/open world maps.

Ideally from somewhere that's not going to fill my new pc with dozens of viruses biggrin

Got a G920 set up which isn't perfect but will do the job for the time being.

Thanks in advance.

Speaking of AC mods, has anyone here played the Assetto Corsa version of the DRM mod? I loved it in rFactor but haven't played any sims for a while and am abit out of the loop. Reviews on RaceDepartment for the DRM mod seem a tad disappointing.

one thing to make sure you get for your overview is 'Helicorsa'.

Frankly it's a must have.

I had a look at this yesterday, quite a cool thing and surprised it's not implemented in many games rather than the 'swooshing arrow'

Sidekick puts all the essential info into a nice little box instead of having a dozen of them like you end up with when using the default apps. The best feature is the RPM bar which acts like shift lights, useful on some of the turbo cars where you shift long before the rev limiter for maximum performance.

Regarding AC mods, here's one I've been working on for nearly 3 years now. 3 years, are you mad!? Yeah probably, I sorta attempt to explain the reasoning behind it in this video, along with a 'fast' lap to show it off a bit.

Basically comes down to no reasonable logic behind making it, but really glad I did, as I've been able to work with some great people and on great projects off the back of it. Currently modelling official cars for the developers now, so its not a lost cause wink

Anyway, it comes out on RaceDepartment on friday smile

Nice, Il be sure to give it a go on friday, Just started to get back into sim racing, A spring for my g27 pedals just arrived in the post today so hopefully it should start feeling like a brake pedal soon.

Car mods seem the most difficult to get right. Even less than optimal graphically track mods I can still spend time on, I think because I dont know the real life track to compare too.

But tried a few car mods that either the physics dont seem quite right or graphics not to great and breaks the immersion very quickly. That looks great from the youtube vid though. the gearchange animation looks great.

.
GTEye?

I've just ordered another one - the first one has just broken after 3 years and thousands of hours so no complaints. Really did think about a load cell but I'll probably just wait for the Fanatec V3s to stop being silly money and then get a set of those.

The very same.

I read into all the options and it seemed the best to go with compared to the others and excluding very expensive mods to where you would just buy better pedals.

Did grudge paying £20 for what is effectively just a progressive spring but suppose someone needs to make it.

So put it in, move the original brake spring to the clutch pedal to firm that up a bit. The accelerator pedal is still very light but think the clutch spring would be just too firm to swap in.

Try with the standard throttle spring, but with the stiffer brake you may find the clutch spring balances up the controls. It did for me.

Takes no time at all to get used to it.

Got the spring it, Was a bit of a faff trying to get the bottom bolt out but got it in the end. Also put some velcro under the brackets so it no longer makes that clicky noise when a pedel is fully pressed or depressed quickly.

The springs great, If anything a little too stiff at the moment but i drive with shoes off and it may slacken off a little, its also pushing my chair back on hard braking, Heel/toe is much easier but I may move the brake/accelerator pedal abit closer.

Clutch is perfect with the brake spring in, firmer but not hard to completely depress.

Ive got some practicing to do. At the moment im struggling to just complete some laps without spinning.

Assetto corsa seems very slow speed visually in corners for me so im going in far to quick and under steering off. Also cant seem to catch any slide. Its either correct, regains grip and fish tails off or just slides out.

That's pretty cool! Instantly recognised your accent as you started speaking, too. Where in the shire are you based?

It may be the field of view setting, I believe there's some interesting opinions on what is actually the correct FOV in game, and having it correct aids the sense of speed.

My most significant progress was when I decided to properly learn the Nurburgring, so I took the Alfa GTA on vintage tyres with the surface set to 'old' and just lapped that combination whenever I played of an evening for about 2 weeks. You really do begin to tune in to the minute force feedback details and what it's telling you about the car. You'll also then find when you go to a track with a grippy surface or better tyres, the force feedback feels like it's shouting information at you as you're so used to lower friction.

It'll also help give you a sense of speed when you jump in a quicker car, although this doesn't last long hehe

This is a very well produced channel that largely focuses on AC mods.
