Having got totally bored with the run off the mill games you find on console I have decided to try some of the more interesting / eclectic titles on Steam.

I have just purchased The Stanley Parable, Blue Shift (Never played it back in the day) & Grim Fandango - another one I never played way back when.

Been browsing whats available and there is A LOT, so just wondering whether anyone had any suggestions on some interesting (non main stream) titles to play, that are available on Steam?

SUPERHOT

one of the most original and inventive indie titles i've ever played. It's brilliant in it's simplicity, and very addictive. Also great to pick up for a quick blast if you don't have hours to spare.

Superhot is great, it's even better in VR.

Orcs Must Die (fist person tower defense)
FTL: Faster than Light
Kerbal Space Program
Portal

Not all exclusives.

Recommended last year by someone on PH, Limbo and it's sequel, Inside...

Really surprised at how much I enjoyed them as I'm not into platform/puzzle games generally. Currently on sale as well.

Papers, Please and Atlantic Fleet are great.

You can watch the PP short film on Steam.

The long Dark - although now on consoles is a pretty good survival game under constant development. Set in frozen wastes of Canada.

Sllay the Spire - deck builder, rogue like. Easy to pick up, hard to master. Addictive as hell.

Parkitect - true spiritual successor to roller coaster tycoon. Still in early access but very polished and playable.

Rimworld

Genuinely spent 500+ hours on this in under 6 months. Amazing game and very addictive with a huge modding community. A more basic (graphics wise) Settlers but with massively more content

In all seriousness I saw it promoted on a thread on here and thought it was a PH injoke, then I saw it recommended again so decided to search Steam for it (and cleared my Google browsing history shortly after....)

Thanks for the suggestions gents, keep them coming!

My game wishlist on steam has exploded, due to a slow evening scrolling through pages and pages of games! So many interesting and different games - shame very little of this stuff ever finds its way to console.

KSP, Inside, Papers Please, Atlantic fleet, Parkitect, Infra & Rimworld have all been added to the wishlist!

Already played Super hot, Portal, Firewatch & Rapture but all great games.

Virginia is pretty good, albeit short. I rather enjoyed it in a clickable movie narrative kind of way.

Played that one - really enjoyed it.

I always enjoy games that have an interesting gameplay mechanic, nice visual style or tell a nice story.

In a similar vein I have added The Way of Life, and That Dragon Cancer, This is the Police, Edith Finch and Ethan Carter.

There was a horror one about a painter that was pretty great...

Layers of Fear

Very unsettling and well crafted point and click type affair.

The Town of Light is very good if somewhat harrowing. One of the few games that hit me emotionally. It's best if you don't read the detailed reviews as they can spoil some of the discovery and post play research brings it home even more.

Inside and Limbo both worth a play through. I did so on Ps4 and you can sell the game afterwards for roughly what you paid 2nd hand.

PC - subnautica. I hadn't heard of this and started playing it a week ago. Benefits from a good pc, I'd say, but really enjoyable.
Think "the long dark" but mostly underwater.

I bought PP after reading this - couldn't see how it could be fun but it actually is quite good! I doubt I'll last more than a couple of hours though, but it's certainly intruiging.

Another vote for Rimworld, great game.

War for the Overworld is a gem, I've a serious amount of hours on it - the spiritual successor to DungeonKeeper. Dungeons is also good, but not as good IMO.

Craft the World never seems to get advertised but is an excelent game - similar in concept/play to Oxygen not included (another great game). Craft has had loads of content added.

One gem that isn't even finished yet...They Are Billions. Amazing game and all you can do so far is skirmish maps. Can't wait for campain mode. Basically you have to build a town and protect it from zombie hordes. Think banished with zombies.

I have too many games...
