Anyone else play this? I am considering if it is worth a wheel/pedal set up for it?

It is also quite cool to drive the same tacks as I watch on the F1..

I started but gave up after Russia i think. I should probably pick it back up as I have some of the crap tracks out the way now and will be soon into the better European circuits. I'm playing on full practise and 50% race distance tho so a bit of a commitment (even tho you can skip through practises)

I'm using t300rs wheel on playseat challenge. But enjoying assetto corsa too much at the moment. The old F1 cars on that are brilliant fun

I had a sh*t time at Monaco and Spain but doing ok so far up to Azerbaijan.... (sp? can't be bothered to look it up) - generally pole - Canada was fun, all dry practice and quali then heavy rain for the race!

It is easy to see just how much fun it must be for the drivers at some of the tracks.

Have you played with the controller? Or would you say bin that and get the wheel?

It's brilliant with a wheel, much more immersive.

Pole!? I'm happy with a top 10. I am driving for Williams tho...

I never tried it with a controller. My thumbs don't have enough control

I am with Force India...

Yes I've crashed a couple of times as my thumb moved a touch too far and when you are doing 150 in a corner you don't get a lot of room for error. Which is why Monaco was a nightmare - I could only ever get one good lap at a time, then I'd mess up a corner (or three) on the next lap.

It is also odd as I play thinking "I can see why a driver loves this track"....

I was thinking about getting this, but I'm afraid it might be a bit too technical for me, can you just sit and drive? I don't really understand the vagaries of car set up, and wouldn't know what to upgrade, the main attraction for me would be learning new tracks and the racing, do you get an AI pit crew that decide pit stops etc?

£15.99 at Argos.... might skip Dominos tonight and get this instead smile

Yes you can just sit and drive - there are standard set ups i.e. low to high downforce so you can just pick those. You can then go into more detail if you want but don't have ot.

The AI pit crew do the job and on mine it also does the pit stop for you. You can change strategy during the race if you want or just leave it as agreed at the start of the race.

and yes, driving the tracks etc is what I am enjoying too, it is quite fun to see how fast some corners can be taken and just how close you can get etc to apexes and whatnot.

It was only £10 on the PS4 store

I don't bother with adjusting set up. Just choose from high, mid, or low downforce. Some of the free practise sessions they encourage you to do this anyway

Just got this for PS4, loving the fact it has the old logo and no halo....

‘Croftie’ grates just as much as in real life though!

I am getting irritated by how dangerous the other drivers can be at times - Mind it is quite realistic as I got off the start only to have Grosjean crash into my rear and spin me into the barriers.......

How the hell do I win off the start? No matter what I try I get overtaken by at least 2 cars if not 3-5......

Had an hour on this today - Barcelona. Everyone was 3s a lap quicker than me in the wet. Luckily the rain stopped halfway through. Somehow was 10th going into the final lap with a big queue behind - including the leaders coming to lap me. But it doesn't tell you if the car directly being is lapping you or not. So I let the guys through behind that I was fighting with in order to let the leaders through (after getting a 5s penalty for not doing so, followed by a cheeky rewind) and finished 14th, with my race engineer telling me that was a disappointing finish. Well if you didn't bloody keep telling me blue flag and to let the leaders through, when they weren't even on my tail, I'd have finished 10th on target. Idiot. Worst thing is that Massa my team mate was first through in the blue flags and ended up in my 10th place frown

I'm running half race length (33laps) so not about to try that whole race again.

Monaco next, looks horrendous. Gonna need a break before I tackle that one

Monaco is tough.

I'm in my 4th season, I have a tailored setup saved for every track (I am fussy!)

I am currently looking at wheels as I'm getting fed up of using the controller... any recommendations? I'm leaning towards the Thrustmaster TX but tempted by Fanatec stuff...

P.S. will certainly be buying 2018, probably by the time I get to the end of season 4

Anyone know how to stop the ba***rd computer people cheating under Safety car and VSC? I keep getting overtaken whilst I am sauntering along and then when I go to take my place back, it warns me I will get a penalty and illegal overtake FFS....

Is my engineer on crack?

Asked if I wanted a strat change.. Ok Jeff, what do you think we should do now...

Current plan is to change to Super Softs at lap 22. Jeff things a good change of strategy is to change to Super Softs at lap 22. Yes, thanks for that valuable plan there fella..

Asked how far ahead Perez is. 8 seconds. Ok, fuel to rich, two fastest laps of the race later. How close is Perez now Jeff? 12 seconds...........

It's a shame the 'engineer quiet' command is buried about three menus deep. Jeff has a knack for piping up at the worst possible moments, when you're just spotting the braking point for turn 1 or trying to measure the power out on a cut-back move.

Yes and often "We have a change of strategy" just when I want to know something so press the button and the poxy options come up instead of what I was looking for. I've changed strat a couple of times by that error and just had to ignore the "pit now"......
