Buy the game on disc, arrived today, launch day. 50+gig install. 49+gig patch. Unbelievable.

Whatever happened to shipping finished products.

Amazon delivered a day early so people have a chance to play it on the actual release day laugh

Seems decent though, from the little I’ve managed to play.

Christ what a download on a new release game. You can play the new mode 'Blackout after a 16Gb download, the multiplayer and Zombies follows after another 34Gb.

So I played Blackout which is CODs version of Fortnight/PUGB. I have never played any of the Fortnight style games before and all I can say is its bloody boring. Too slow and you need a team to compete.

By the time MP finished downloading I was too pissed to play it. Well tomorrow ill try again.

Won't download from the server for me frown

Bought FIFA 19 today for Xbox one and that's fine, having no luck at all with bo4 on PS4.

Or you could join the solo blackout mode.

Any more feedback on multiplayer? Is it more like WW2 or the stupid wall running, jumping game a couple years ago?

Just to clarify, so are there two modes to blackout.... team/squad (default) and solo (where everyone else in the lobby will be solo)?

Played a blackout game earlier today, great fun, but some idiot on our team killed us early on. In team/squad mode does the last team standing win....or does it have to be one person.... meaning teammates will probably turn on each other at the very end?

It’s like the first couple of a Black Ops and has some of their maps. No wall running! I’m liking it a lot. I think the graphics were better in WW2 though.

It is worlds better than both of those ste games. The standard multiplayer uses the specialists model where you pick an operator who has special gadgets, one that recharges slowly and is a like a "super" gadget and one that recharges quite quickly is good for using often. The gadgets are quite sci-fi and with the game being set in the future that is not unexpected, but they've done away with the wall-running st. There is one specialist who has a grapple gun but it's nowhere near as stupid as it used to be.

The mini map is better now too, it no longer shows everything, it now only shows the layout of the map but not enemies or gadgets and stuff. You can "see" a small cone of vision on the map and your team mates get the same, so if your team can see an enemy they will be tagged on your mini map, but only at close ranges. It does make the gameplay more tactical but it's still a twitch-shooter at heart.

The maps are better than they used to be, they're still sort of 3 lane maps with a left, middle or right path to each end of the map, but it feels like they have put in more flanking roots and lower and higher ground to add some vertical gameplay. They've basically tried to take the best bits of Rainbow 6 Siege and add them into COD.

The blackout game mode with the battle royale mechanics is a different beast entirely.

Yes, you can play solo. You've got 100 players in squads of two (50 teams) or 100 players in squads of four (25 teams) or 88 players, all on their own. I don't know why they didn't do the solo game mode with 100 players.

When you're in duos or squads, your team is not eliminated until your last player dies. If you're in a 4 man squad and 3 of you die early on, the surviving player can still win the game for your team and it's counted as a win for all of you, even if you died early on and contributed nothing.

Thank you for the update. Just debating whether I will play it between RDR and Battlefield V.

Yep, see my posts above, it kept disconnecting from psn last night, I had to leave it downloading overnight in the end. It's a big install.

Quite liking this, not had a cod for a long time.

Really happy to see a few old maps back - can get to grips with it instantly.

Blackout is good, but can be very annoying - it reminds me of the hunger games!
I either finish in the top 10 or die within 1min as I can’t find a gun and get shot whilst running around like a headless chicken! Managed to come 2nd yesterday which was great, but very tense!
As above you need to play as a team, you have no hope on your own when it’s down to the last 20/30!

The one thing I don't like about COD that runs through this series of games is the futuristic setting that some of them have. Spoils it for me - wall running, boost jumping, futuristic weapons etc.

Actually play this new one and you’ll see that the wall running and boosting has been dropped. It’s much more like the original.
