My 500GB Original Xbox One is full, so I need an external hard drive. I was thinking about getting a 1TB device, but there is so much choice I don’t know where to start. Any suggestions would be helpful. I assume they are all just plug in and play via a USB port? Cheers smile

They do plug & play.

You don't need to buy a specific XBO branded one.

I have a USB3-connected 8TB Seagate Backup+ attached (about £180 2 years ago) - the first time I connected it to the XBO, it simply asked me whether I wanted to use it for storage or media.

If you pick storage, it will format it into an XBO custom format for you to store your games/apps on.

if you pick media, it will will not do anything and works as an normalNTFS volume.

You can get a similar one now for about £130 - and some even have USB slots for you to use for other peripherals.

Thank you, I have seen some for around £60ish. If I were to spend £130ish I think I would just spend a bit more and get a One S with the larger hard drive... hmm.

Edit: Just seen that’s 8TB.. which is mega but probably way way way more than I’d ever use!

I bought the 4Tb version of this for my PS4 a couple of weeks ago & it works perfectly. Plugged it in, selected "storage" when it asked me, it did a quick format thing & that was it. Couldn't have been easier and I imagine the Xbox version would be exactly the same.

It's nice being able to install games without having to bugger about!
