game controller for playing on PC? Rather than KB / mouse?
Discussion
Hi everyone - just a quickie if anyone has done this?
I have a Steam Link for my PC (which works quite well) and currently use a wireless USB keyboard / mouse whilst in the lounge.
But I was wondering - with many games - that I play anyway - being apparent console ports I was wondering whether for the 'downstairs experience' I should be looking at a wireless 'console' type controller? I am very much a keyboard / mouse gamer - but have previously found that many games just suit an Xbox / PS3 style controller much better?
some that really spring to mind recently are Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Firewatch and Assasin's Creed. All would lend themselves well to a game controller. Do any of you guys do this? Obviously many games are cross platform - so clearly it would 'work' - but just wondering how you got on if you tried it - and what controller you went with?

For shooters and action games, KB & mouse, every time, and definitely for all the games you mention. I've got adapters for PS controllers, XBox controllers, even a Steam controller - now maybe I'm just too used to the keyboard, but using a console-style controller just doesn't give the same level of accuracy or control. The only games I don't use keyboard for are driving and space sims.
I quite enjoy using a steam controller for casual gaming. Elite Dangerous is great and Portal good fun too, I think anything but FPS is a decent fit because the SC is so adaptable if you spend some time downloading and modifying control setups to suit. It can run reasonably complex macros as well.
Recently bought a gaming laptop as I needed a new laptop and had a PS4 that I didn't use, mainly because I can't play FPS games with a controller. Since buying the laptop, I've played about an hour of FPS and spent the rest of the time playing Forza with an Xbox 360 controller. When done with Forza, I'll probably not use the controller again.
I did see that logitech (I think) do an all in one USB which will run the headset, mouse, keyboard and controller, which seemed like a good idea.
