I'm considering upgrading my daughter's laptop to Windows 10 (which it is is within the spec for) but she's asked about putting Minecraft on it. Having looked around, I've seen a few websites (Kinguin as one example) that sell licences for Minecraft for Windows 10 for about £2.something and even cheaper on ebay.

In my own ignorance and idiocy - What's the catch? How legitimate is this?

Thanks

The risk is that Microsoft revokes the game key and you lose access to the game and also lose your money (though Kinguin I think has previously refunded money for revoked keys). These keys were possibly bought using stolen credit cards, or were possibly bought when the keys were on promotion as a sort of investment, or were possibly unwanted gifts or promotional offers.

The game is only £18 ! Just get it bought!

As a side note I was actually surprised to see it's now £18 - I got into it back in Alpha days and I'm pretty sure it was only a fiver!

Check out CD Keys, they are a legitimate digital seller and tend to be competitive.

I got a key from Kinguin for it around 12 months ago, still working fine to this day
