I tend to buy them every year but I cant say I have enjoyed them since Ghosts. Im just glad it looks like its gone to boots on the ground with no jump suits. I could be wrong but I hope I am not.

Black ops 4 and WW2 are decent.

I've played a fair bit of the remastered modern warfare that was on PS+ recently which was good fun. Back to the simple perks.

Please please please let this go back to basics, good maps and simple perks and I will be on this like a tramp on chips!

Really miss the nights playing online with the PH crew, great banter.

I have never really liked any of the CODS other then Inifinty Wards releases. MW1 was the first game I played Online, MW2 was the best by far, MW3 was ok, Ghosts was ok. The last 1 they released was st hence why they remastered MW1.

Treyarch have done Black Ops which i didnt really like as it played slightly different.

MW1, MW2 and MW3 kept me playing for 2 years between releases before Slegehammer got involved. No other game has had me play for that long.

Love the old Modern Warfare cods so I'll be getting this. cool

Only for campaign though, it's pointless online at my skill level. Bought black ops 4 and got rid within a week or so.

For balance, my son who was in my wife's womb while I played cod on PS3 is better than me and prefers the wall-run-jump-boost infinite warfare nonsense hehe

I think i'll be getting it for two key reasons:

1. They're introducing crossplay, so lobbies can include XBox, PS4 and PC players; and
2. No season pass, with all maps available for free.

Both of which solve my main problem with any CoD, namely that the franchise divides itself up in so many ways that after a few months, lobbies in anything other than the most commonly played game modes are empty and even the most popular ones like TDM and Domination have slower matchmaking with consequently slower ping times and a greater chance of you getting insta-killed in a fight you could never win.

When i say the franchise divides itself, I mean:

- Firstly by game. With every new launch, some people continue to play to old games so there's an increasingly long trail of people playing older games;
- By game mode, so taking BO4 as an example you have Blackout, Zombies, League Play and Multiplayer;
- Multiplayer then splits into standard and hardcore;
- Then you get the huge number of game types i.e. SnD, TDM, Dom, Infected, Gun Game, various mosh pits etc. I think BO4 had around 15 different types at any one time;
- But the most annoying one of all was the season pass, which divided the community into those who did and those who didn't have the DLC maps.

With all those dividers in place it was no surprise matchmaking in BO4 got sufficiently rubbish that i gave up with it. So hopefully the crossplay and no season pass will chuck a lot more people into the same pool of players and solve the problem. The only snag i can see, and i haven't heard any commentary on it, is surely PC players using a keyboard and mouse in a lobby with console gamers are at a big advantage?

I thought the original was called COD modern warfare (when I say original I mean the last remastered release)?

Technically I think it was called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare?

Correct. The new one simply drops the 4.

Yeah, keyboard and mouse users have pretty sizeable advantage. There ought to be a way to separate lobbies based on controller, I think Fortnite does this? But if they don't, then any semi decent keyboard and mouse users will just decimate console/controller users.

The original trilogy was great but games have moved on since. The newer CoD campaigns make the player feel like a bystander whose squad mates aren’t even aware of their existence. Constantly blocking doorways, walking into your line of fire etc. Breaks the immersion for me. Feels like you’re guiding a camera through linear levels that won’t progress unless you pull the trigger a few times. Very shallow.

Hopefully this will be different but I’m not convinced. I’ll probably end up buying it but will wait for reviews before committing, and definitely will not be preordering.

It's definitely got a campaign and some YouTubers have played a couple of levels. Feedback seems very positive, with the new game engine having substantially better AI apparently.

Mafffew - it would seem you're right and they're following Fortnight in separating lobbies by controller.

I stopped at MW3 too and looking at this it could tempt me back. I'm not one for multiplayer, I prefer a good campaign mode with a storyline so it's nice to see this should have some sort of decent single-player option.

Yup, I rarely play multiplayer. I just want a good action filling story and to kill a bunch of terrorists - not too much to ask wink
