Yes. Yes you should.
I deliberated for a while as to whether my laptop would be man-enough to get the best of iit. I unpacked it carefully in case in needed to be returned Happily it worked well for me straight out of the box. Use it for mainly for XP11 and DCS. Google Earth is wonderful in VR, especially the first time you use it. Got genuine gasps of amazement from the wife and kids, even my septuagenarian parents were impressed.
The thing with VR is that it is really difficult to understand how much difference it makes until you try it. You can read reviews, and watch youtube videos, but until you try it it just seems like hype. I honestly can't see myself ever going back to a flat screen. Especially for flight simulators.

Thanks :-) How does it work in FS or DCS ? Do you use the Oculus controllers to press buttons etc ? I have a Seitek HOTAS but still use loads of keyboard presses in DCS how does that work ?I deliberated for a while as to whether my laptop would be man-enough to get the best of iit. In XP11 I use the Oculus controllers. With these it is possible to 'grip' the flight controls and manually manipulate other cockpit elements by (virtually) placing your hands on the actual switch or button and pressing. This works just fine for GA/airline flying. Of course you could still use the HOTAS, but it would mean a bit of controller swapping.For DCS I use a HOTAS system. You will need to map some HOTAS controls to mouse buttons, ESC key and VR view centre. Then the VR headset acts as a mouse so you just look directly at the control you want to manipulate and then use the mapped mouse buttons in the normal way. I do only fly clicky-cockpit modules though.
I haven't used it with MSFS/P3D.
Seriously though, like you I spent months wondering whether or not it was worth buying. It definitely is, and even though I lost a bit of image quality/detail, the immersion aspect more than compensates.

Haha ! Thanks I've been desperatley wanting someone to put me off but not having much look !! I've read some probs about the IPD adjustment and its now done in software. Does it work OK. Looking at some reviews on Amazon with people saying it doesnt make any difference.For DCS I use a HOTAS system. You will need to map some HOTAS controls to mouse buttons, ESC key and VR view centre. My IPD measures at 64mm, so very close to the 63.5 of the Rift S. I haven't had to make any adjustments and everything so far feels like it is scaled correctly.LotusJas said:
Short answer is don't collect it. Get the Oculus Quest instead.
It can play all Rift S games using a USB-C 3.0 cable to your PC.
As well as obviously playing Quest games mobile and cable-free.
Have to have a look at that although I have zero interest in mobile and not that bothered about wireless. What are the other benefits of the Quest over the Rift ?It can play all Rift S games using a USB-C 3.0 cable to your PC.

Manual IPD adjustment and it looks like Facebook are going to be putting more effort into the Quest than the Rift in future, though I presume the games will always run on both. Shadow R1 said:
Rift s = 2560 x 1440

Quest = 2880 x 1600
72 hz refresh rate (unsure if this changes once connected to a pc).
Oled screens
CV1 = 2160 x 1200
90 hz refresh rate
Oled screens.
I’ve been looking at some YouTube vids and to be honest I think the Rift looks better.80 hz refresh rate

Sorry for the cliché but OMFG ! This is a game changer... Incredible changes in tech for me ….
Broadband … 3Dfx... and now this.
Absolutely incredible … Just had a Tyrannosaurus walk towards me and nearly fell off my chair.
Astounding !
Come back in a week or two and tell us if you still think the same.Broadband … 3Dfx... and now this.

Why would he not? I've had mine for three months now and still as impressed as on day one. snuffy said:
