Hi all,
It’s been a while since I’ve played a good racing sim. Which is the best sim game for PS4?

I don’t want an F1 based game, but would consider superbike racing if it’s a good sim. Also not fussed for purely off road games such as Dirt Rally. Road Racing is where it’s at for me. I play solely offline if that helps. I like realistic visuals and driving conditions and cars/bikes. Don’t want anything too arcadey

Forza Horizon 4 looks up my street but it’s XBox only. GT Sport and Assetto Corsa likewise look like they appeal to me. TT Isle of Man for something left field?

Thoughts very much appreciated...

I have a One X and PS4 Pro and GT Sport is the best IMO, it's great with or without wheel and pedals

If you do have wheels/pedal set up, Project Cars 2 is very good. I tried many controller settings but couldn't get to grips with it once I'd qualified to driving cars more powerful than the Ginetta juniors

Horizon 4 is a lot of fun but it has an arcadey feel and is best played online. Since getting my PS4 I've only been playing GT Sport, barely touched my Xbox

I have owned MotoGP 19 and IOM TT, found both quite boring in the end and I'm a massive GP/TT fan!

Whatever you get, make sure you have a look online for controller/wheel settings as this dramatically improves your experience biggrin

I've a PS4 Pro and I have Drive Club (more arcade style), GT Sport, Assetto Corsa and Project Cars 2.

All are very good with GT Sport being the best looking out of the lot. Assetto Corsa isn't visually appealing as GTS but the physics are better and you can feel the car under/oversteer. PC2 has a lot of tracks and cars. All fun games but GT Sport is the easiest game to get to grips with.

Pleasure. Also, it you have the funds, invest in a Logitech G29 wheel (and shifter if you want) which you can get from Curry's. It's for PS or PC. I use it and love it.

Thanks I will have a look as I’ve been considering one for a while. How do you guys set these up without a full racing seat etc? Eg what do you mount the wheel and pedals and shifter to?

Office desk (TV is on that and connected to my PS3 and PC) or small table in front of TV if PS4 is in your lounge.

The following link is what I purchased but that was in 2011/12. It's not available anymore but there are others which are available elsewhere within that link. The shifter brackets are optional at extra cost. https://www.boysstuff.co.uk/gaming-chairs/gamerace...

I have GT Sport, and unless you're going to go online with it, offline content is fairly poor in my opinion and quite limited.

If you want a sim, then I'd recommend assetto corsa on PS4 - assuming you use a steering wheel. The physics, feel and feedback is miles ahead of GTS. Hotlapping is a fun but frustrating experience in AC, you can't just plant the throttle and hold on, and the offline content is challenging!!

GTS however has better graphics, and from what I've heard is much better on the gamepad. Plus if you do want to go online, much more going on. Even if you don't want to subscribe to ps+, you can do qually time trials to compare with friends and world top 10 etc

Never played PC or PC2, i heard they were not easy to just pick up and play, and were quite buggy at least on release

Thanks all. We don’t have room for a proper driving seat as the PS4 is in the living room, nor can I get away with pedals and wheel on a table. We are extending our house quite significantly later this year though, so when I get a dedicated man-cave a full racing’s setup will be on the cards. Cheers guys.
