Came 3rd in pcgamers top 100 a couple of months back. Don't know much about it other than it's a card battler of some form. Worth getting I take it?

Just picked it up for under a tenner on Steam. I know Steam reviews aren't always the most reliable thing in the world but in this case I took a punt based on the huge volume of overwhelmingly positive feedback and the fact I love card games and Roguelikes.

It's free on XBox Game Pass, on PC too.

I'm not into card games, but even I enjoy playing it now and again. Nice little game to drop into now and again.

Lost dozens of hours to this when I first discovered it.
Got quite handy with the Ironclad and was making good progress through the Ascension levels until a different game finally dragged me away but I definitely plan to complete it fully one day.
Getting the 20 minute win achievement was quite satisfying.

The only annoyance... progress seemingly can't be transferred between Xbox and PC as it is the perfect game to fire up on the laptop when I'm away as its system requirements are so low.

I've beaten the tower now with the Silent, my strategy was to whittle the chaff out of my deck and upgrade my poison cards and my defence cards. I'd then poison the enemy use the "double poison" and "triple poison" cards to the point where poison was doing 100+ damage a turn if I had some good hands and then just weather the storm until the enemies died. The only downside was that it wasn't a good deck for mobs but it worked in the end.

I had a good run with the Construct, again with a similar tactic of getting multiple thunder orbs out, boosting their power via focus cards and the "orb is also cast at the start if your turn" card to boost my passive damage output then defending against everything and not letting any damage through.

I struggle most with the Ironclad even though he's supposed to be the easiest class to play. I feel like the game is tough when you have to attack and defend actively. Ironclad can't really get passive damage out while defending as far as I've seen. Maybe I just need to learn to only attack whenever the enemy is casting a debuff or something, but that feels like it would be bad against mobs or enemies that scale their buffs or use scaling debuffs against you.

I've only beaten it a couple of times with Ironclad in around 40 attempts.
Never beaten it with Silent in around 20 goes.

Ironclad using Flex+ with as many relics as possible, and strength potions seems to be a good base.
I don't have the patience to go 5+ rounds against an average enemy with a tank build.

Finally beat 'Act 4' with defect and went back to playing ascension with the Ironclad feeling like I was good at the game again and wow, ascension is so hard. So much respect for those that make it look a cakewalk online.

I'm starting to believe the Silent is the best class

I think the Silent is the best class, she is very flexible and can take many different decks and relics to victory. Ironclad just seems to rely on overwhelming attack strength. I've not beaten it with Defect yet but I think it's just a matter of getting the right cards.

The Watcher character seems to very mechanic heavy and very difficult to play. I've only had one go with her so there is still a lot to figure out.

Up to ascension 15 with Ironclad & 12 with the Silent.
I can only win with the Silent using a poison/catalyst deck. Shiv deck builds are a nightmare!
Great game that I keep coming back to.
