PS4 updates

Hi all,
Is there any way to get around annoying application updates being done at just the wrong time?

I’ve come to log onto GT Sport for the Wednesday evening 21:20 race and it needs updating which will mean I’ll miss the race.

Is there a way of knowing in advance what dates the updates will come? That way I could do it a few hours in advance if the race.

I tend to leave my PS4 in Standby but still now and again it decides not to update and waits for me to load....

I mostly play GT Sport and when on the "Home" screen within the game, it usually states at the bottom that there will be an update at a certain date. You are talking about the game and not the console software update? I had to update the game last night and it's the copying file instillation which seems to take an age. Very frustrating.

Thanks both. Yes I mean the game update rather than console. I did you with leaving on standby but I only get on it once or twice per week at most so seems a waste to leave on standby so long.

Will look out for the notice of future updates thanks. Will also try and be proactive and switch the PS4 on a few hours before the race starts, in case any updates are due.

For game updates, as above it gives notice a couple days in advance.
Or keep an eye on gtplanet, they are always on the ball. Not sure about console updates

Last week I logged on at 0100 to an update which took forever.
I left it to update and went to bed.
Following night I went on roughly the same time to an update needed by the game

PS4 updates are a pain in the ass.
