I put this here as it is gaming related, however, please feel free to move if necessary.

I'm thinking of upgrading my MSI Gaming Edge (with wifi wink) 1660 ti GPU.

On the basis I've seen the Nvidia "Founders" version of this GPU is cheaper than after-market (if that's the right term here) versions such as the EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Super XC Ultra by around £30 or so, are these Founder GPU's better or worse in some way than the after-market alternatives?

Apologies if this is repeat question/topic, we know how awesome the PH Search facility!

Thanks.

Founders comes with the reference cooling solution. Aftermarket cards have better cooling solutions for the most part. I have a 2080 super zotac triple fan, even under full load, I can't hear the fans, a founders edition would most likely sound like a small jet taking off.

LOL, thanks for the quick reply.

I was guessing that there would be some level of performance upgrade(s). Nice to know where.

When Nvidia themselves are pricing their non-Founders 2080 Super higher than the Founders I suspected their would known factors to the more enlightened than I.

Cheers,

V.

Founders Vs reference cards - https://www.tomshardware.com/uk/news/reference-fou...

Ps. You might get more for the founders card when you want to sell it for an upgrade.

Thanks FWD, good point however I'm not looking that far forward.

I was only wondering if anyone knew of some kind of performance or other benefit than my research was unable to uncover.

It turns out they're cheaper (in this case) because there is better performance to had from the "aftermarket" versions.
