Xbox / PC Steering Wheel advice
Discussion
Apologies if this has been covered before...
So, invested in an Xbox One for the 7 year old a month ago. Came with the Forza Horizon 4 bundle. Now, as a 47 year old I'm a bit out of touch with modern gaming but this has opened up a whole new world to me. I'd no idea that you could play driving games online and freeroam etc. We're both having great fun with him on the Xbox and me on the Desktop PC playing multi-player.
Anyway, I've convinced myself that he (me) really needs a steering wheel to enjoy the racing games. Nothing too serious as it's just a bit of fun.
After a little research it looks like it's down to the following;
Thrustmaster TMX Pro - £190
Logitech G920 - £260
Thrustmaster TX - bit confused on the pricing on this as there a different wheels and pedal sets - guessing over £300
Anyone any experience of these wheels and can give advice. I suppose I'm looking for the impossible compromise of something that we can both enjoy.
I've read a few reviews for the Logitech saying that the pedals are quite stiff and I'm concerned that my 7 year old won't be able to use them.
What's the difference between the TMX & TX considering the price difference? The TX seems to be interchangeable with other Thrustmaster pedals / steering wheels which could be great for future upgrading. Can you do this with TMX?
Thanks in advance.

That seems a little expensive for the Logitech. I've got the G29 (pc/ps4 version of the G920) and I'm sure I got it for around £200 a few years back.
The brake pedal might be a little stiff for a 7 year old but you will be able to adjust the input settings in most games to compensate.

I think the brake pedal has a big rubber block in for "feel", which can be removed (never investigated this myself as my size 12s have no trouble, but seen it mentioned on other forums)The brake pedal might be a little stiff for a 7 year old but you will be able to adjust the input settings in most games to compensate.
New Logitechs have been sub 150 at various points in the recent past. I guess it's the cabin fever.
The brake pedal is indeed very stiff, or rather dead, but you can adjust the amount of force needed so it only needs a tap. I reduced the one I had to 15% as I have no finesse anyway.
The TX has better tech than the TMX. If it was a 260 quid g920 or 300 quid TMX with the right pedals the latter would be a no brainer. Not sure how easy that would be to find at that price.
The TX Pro and Logitech should be at a similar level.

Thanks for the info and advice.
Have decided on, and ordered, the basic Thrustmaster TMX two pedal from Argos.
Watched a few You Tube reviews and figure that as a starter force feedback wheel it'll do the job.
May end up needing a wheel each anyway so I could go for something the next step up if we both stick at it.

Ditto. I'm 47 with a 7 year old.
To be honest, he tried but horizon 4 is a b
h to play with a wheel, it oversteer massively to the extent that it's broken. Google it. Specifically with a g920. Hes gone back to the controller and I play motorsport 7 as its much better. The pedal is very stiff though. He wont be able to brake well enough

No way would I bother with a wheel for Forza Horizon 4. It's definitely controller oriented. I have a wheel and it's never occurred to me to use it with that. It's very arcadey. To be honest, he tried but horizon 4 is a b

How are you finding the TMX? I'm in a similar decision point of G920 or TMX Pro. (and granted, I've noticed the price hikes, too) To play mainly Nascar Heat and Project Cars 2. Have decided on, and ordered, the basic Thrustmaster TMX two pedal from Argos.

Covid is annoying. I am sure that pre-covid I have seen the Logitech as low as £130 and the Thrustmaster TX as low as £180. These were probably black Friday deals but still.
They have been creeping up and as of a couple of weeks ago they were approaching double.
My logical course of action was to spend £870 on Fanatec stuff on the principle that it hadn't gone up

Ha, nicely done. Not sure I can justify the fanatec stuff, but using the price checker sites it's interesting to see the peak in prices. I'm not so desperate in that I can wait for them to go down a bit in price, which, given the reduced lockdown state - may start soon.
I'll revisit this thread in a year when I've got a PC, a fanatec and iRacing...
