Quite a smart move on their part - I assume it's just the base game. They should get enough new people hooked, and then they can sell them the DLC for more than the cost of the original game.

Just taken this offer up as I loved the Civ2 back in the '90s..

I have no doubt the business model is to build a new customer base for the DLC sales.. smart move as previous poster said

Thats assuming people dont uninstall it before the end of the tutorial. I was a huge fan of AOE back in the day so quite liked the look of this but micro management of everything felt a bit tedious. Am I missing something?

Civ2/3 still work.

I’m not sure this will in 10yrs, and all your DLC won’t be accessible either.

So it’s money down the drain to upgrade this with DLC.

Pay to play, no thanks.
Play to be mined by god knows what backend probe-ware, no thanks either.

Not meaning to put a big downer on it. If you have the cash/time to burn then great.
I’d just find myself loading up 2/3 again if I had time to burn.

You're definitely missing something. It's a totally different game to Age of Empires - Civ 6 is turn based. You need to turn off animations (enable quick combat and quick move) otherwise the time between turns becomes very tedious.

You do have to tell every unit what you want it to do, but you don't have to do every individual move, you can just click on the eventual destination and the game will move the unit the appropriate amount on each turn.

I get that some people just won't like the game, but if you take the time to get into it, it can be massively absorbing.
