I'm not really one for online gaming, but used to enjoy having a few mates round with some beers and a 2/3/4 player co-op mission - think Spec Ops on CoD Modern Warfare.

Everything I can find seems to be Capture the Flag type games with no real objective if that makes sense? Not limited to FPS either, though I can't think how it would be incorporated into other games. Don't mind playing a bit of FIFA or Rocket League, but they get stale after a few rounds.

Anyone know of any games I could look into so I can get my mates back? spin

A Way Out on the PS4 is co-op only, it's hardly the last word in gaming finesse, but there's a fair few silly mini-games within the world too that can allow a bit of friendly competition to be indulged in whilst also giving you an actual story to play through together. Was reduced on the PS store a little while ago, and only one of you needs to buy the game to both play it together online, or can do local split screen too.

We played Borderlands (2, pre-sequel and 3), Vermintide 2, World War Z, Payday 2 as co-op games. All are good fun and only Payday requires much brainpower.

Borderlands 2 and 3. The former has superb side splitting schoolboy humour writing. The latter less so but just as much fun. You'll have fun with beer and mates, guaranteed.

Butt Stallion was my favourite bit, had me in stiches smile

WWZ is worth a punt if you want some fairly brain out zombie action with some genuinely "sheeeeeet......" moments.
The Halo remastered stuff would be worth a look as well.

Maybe two player teams on Apex Legends? Great fun, and free so no worries if you don’t like it. Not a mission-type game though, granted.

For PC there's a very clever utility called Universal Split Screen that lets you play a bunch of stuff Co-op in a local server. I mainly use it for family sessions of Stardew Valley and Terraria but it'll work with Borderlands, CS:GO and Left for dead 2 according to the documentation.

Gears of War series is great for coop

Not shooty-shooty but Rayman Legends has 2 player coop and is really good fun

Thanks all, lots of great suggestions to look into! Used to have Borderlands on PS3 but didn't look much beyond the 1p campaign.
