Yep, many a happy hour next door playing this. My mate next door had a BBC and a fairly wealthy dad who bought every gadget and add on. They had a monitor, twin disk drives, sideways expansions and god knows what.

Revs was the nearest to actual driving given the limitations of those days, next one I remember playing that felt like a car was perhaps Indy 500 on the Amiga.

Used to spend hours there playing Revs, Frak and Repton (Boulder Dash clone)

I had a C64 but only had a black and white tv and a tape deck, didnt even have that when I first got it as could only afford the C64, not the additional £40 for the tape deck, my dad spotted them at £189.99 instead of £199 at Rumbelows so off we went, saved a tenner but couldnt do anything with it until I saved more. Ordered a compatiable "Rotronics" one, no Amazon then, pay via cheque or Postal Order, fill in the little order form and send it off, please allow 28 days for delivery, which turned into months.

So, went next door instead, his mum had left and his dad was off out womanising, working and whatever so he just used to chuck a few quid for food to my mate and his sister and we would go and get videos from the place that would lend us 18 films at 13, crisps, drinks and sweets.

Happy Days and hearing the noises from Revs takes me straight back.

Did end up with a BBC a couple of years back, savedit from a skip, got it workign with new capacitors, apparently quite a rare model and I asked ont he FB group and a guy offered me a normal BBC master, drives, and allsorts for it, so did a swap, played with it for a bit, got bored and flogged it back to the same chap who had a 20ft container full of them.

Anyway, sorry for the waffling and thanks for the link !

Remember it well - and the expansion pack which added four additional tracks. Compared to other racing games at the time it was incredible - Geoff Crammond went on to do the Grand Prix / World Circuit series.

I can clearly remember this game but I was so young I never bothered learning the clutch, gears and playing it properly, so just used to crash everywhere.

Had a good 30 mins last night trying to perfect old old Silverstone, surprisingly addictive despite the simplicity!

Still have mine kicking about somewhere with the expansion along with F1GP for the Amiga and GranPrix 2,3 and 4 for PC :-)
