Any PHers with experience on aftermarket controllers for PS4?

My standard one is on its last legs and before I press on with a straight replacement, thought I’d look at a possible upgrade, with Scuff being mentioned often as an upgrade. There are mixed reviews out there, some swear by them, some say they are cheap and nasty.

Any thoughts / opinions welcome.

Used mostly for playing FPS games these days.

When my standard PS4 controller died after less than a rear, I got a refund and bought a Nacon Revolution Unlimited Pro controller instead

It's larger that the Dual Shock, but I like that and it can be customised with different weights in the body and different thumb sticks etc (all of which are all included)

It also has under controller buttons that can be assigned the function of any of the regular buttons (a bit like how Scuf have paddles under the controller). These take a bit of getting used to, but they work really well

You can download software for PC / Mac that allows you to change the response profiles for the buttons and thumbsticks if you want to set it up for something specific too

Can work wired or wirelessly. Only "downside" is that it does get dirty quite quickly but it's easy enough to clean

Pricey though, £150 or thereabouts - similar in price to a decently spec'd Scuf last time I looked. Unlikely to work with the PS5 either if you are heading down that route in the future

Thanks Moog - food for thought and yes, need to factor in the imminent PS5 although for the first time since PS2, I might sit on the old gen console for a bit longer.

PS4 controller 😂. I've had my PS4 for three years and I've got through six! Absolute pile of ste!
My PS3, 7 years in, still on the same one!
I'm going to wait until a few reviews have come out before I buy a 5
Cheers

I bought a scuff infinity pro 2 for £175, sold it on eBay other week for £105.

The SCUF was better must admit, although For me it wasn’t 4x the cost better

What is wrong with your existing one? They are not difficult to take apart and swap bits out.

I modified mine with the Extremerate Dawn kit (so have 4 extra mapable buttons on the back) - that's been a superb addition to mine.

If you're considering PS5 I am not sure now is the time to drop proper money on a controller.

Exactly - I've never broken any PS4 Dual Shock controllers??

Unless folk are raging and throwing/slamming them down? Only issue I had was the screen-printing on the special edition Gran Turismo controller fading a little.

My PS4 controllers both have problems but I’m hanging on for a few weeks till the ps5 is out!

If you’re upgrading console I wouldn’t waste money on a controller at the minute

Must be my shovels for hands!!!!

Or it might be my rage at Destiny 2 not giving me the one piece of armour I need for max power for 5 goddamm weeks!
A lot of my friends also have controller issues.

Cheers Nick
