Anyone else picked this up on Steam? Isometric hack and slash like Diablo but faster and rouguelike i.e. once dead you're back to the start (but with some added skills).
After an hour I thought 'Meh!' but it grows and grows. Just one more run...

Just started playing this over the weekend on Xbox!
It's really addictive....I don't normally like this type of game but the colourful graphics and the funny storyline/gameplay just keep me coming back for 'just one more go' after getting killed for the umpteenth time lol
Before you know it two hours have passed

That's the hook, really. Incredibly well implemented with a unique art style. There is a great documentary on it's development, it was a relatively small team. (Some of the devs even did the voice acting in parts.)It's really addictive....I don't normally like this type of game but the colourful graphics and the funny storyline/gameplay just keep me coming back for 'just one more go' after getting killed for the umpteenth time lol

That said, I ran out of steam with it eventually. Certainly depends on your gaming preferences but I got a fair few hours out of it.

Just couldn't get on with it.
Death's Door is a way better implementation of the concept. One of the very very few games I've seen on xbox to get almost universal praise.
Worth a try if you liked Hades.
I'd say the two are pretty different, deaths door is like dark souls combined with Zelda, whereas Hades is Diablo crossed with Devil may cry and a sprinkling of a Rogue-like. Loads more flexibility on how to play with Hades and I found it became a lot more accessible with one of the tweaks to the difficulty where you get more powerful each time you die. I unofficially badged it as Dad-mode as I've not got the time or inclination to bang my head against a brick wall anymore.Death's Door is a way better implementation of the concept. I played and really enjoyed both games but aside from the isometric viewpoint and basic hack and slash concept they're quite different beasts.

I'll bow to your opinion. I gave up on it very quickly - for the reasons you mention.
I don't have the time or inclination anymore to bang my head against a wall gaming. I want engagement and fun. Gaming groundhog is not my idea of fun anymore.
I think this was my issue really. Once I had tried all the weapons it was just a case of death in roughly the same area over and over again. That got old for me, pretty quickly. Though I appreciate repetition is the idea. I don't have the time or inclination anymore to bang my head against a wall gaming. I want engagement and fun. Gaming groundhog is not my idea of fun anymore.
Would highly recommend both of you trying God mode, doesn't make you invincible and still provides a challenge, but does mean you get to see all of the game and it assists you just enough that you really feel like you get better at it. I dare say if I turned it off again in my game that I'd fare much better than I did when I first played it.
It gives you 20% damage resistance, and then adds another 2% each time you die. I think it's quite well thought out - it's just enough to boost the die, upgrade, run again cycle.
By its nature, Hades requires lots of runs, but God Mode makes them a bit more rewarding. I wish I'd turned it on as soon as I started playing.
