Virtual Reality - Oculus Quest 2, game changer?

My daughter got me an Oculus Quest 2 for Christmas, I have to say I am very impressed, I finished the Room puzzle game in a day, loved it!
I still cannot get my head around first-person shooters though, maybe I am too old but it is never like the real thing in my opinion.
Anyone else taking VR a bit more seriously these days or have any tips?

In my opinion it’s worth trying. The controls take a lot of patience and practice, but worth the effort.My son , who is an avid gamer ( I think he’s a field marshal on COD) took a while to get used to the controls but was impressed when he mastered it.
You’ll get about 15hrs of gameplay on the main challenge and then free roam or hoard mode to your hearts content!
I would say it totally is, its better than previous headsets, but the best bit is its £299 (ok, or £399) but you dont need a £1000 plus pc and a cable to it to enjoy the VR experience, Oculus have utterly nailed it.
I wasn't sure after having a Rift how VR would ever take off, ok, there was PS VR but you needed a PS 4, then they bring a unit out with enough processing power to run games itself and do away with the faff of having cameras, it went, in one fell swoop from gamers and geeks to the space occupied by folk who buy stuff like the Wii or Switch, casual gamers, families etc.
Still more to do, in terms of processing power and resolution but dont feel like its almost a development rig and you have to make excuses for it.
I think people will try it at a friends (ok, maybe not at the moment), or hear about them and at £299, its an easy decision for a lot of people where £500 plus a pc isnt. Plus you can take it anywhere.
I think its the future of gaming, or at least a big part of it.

With 2 kids in the house that would be a dangerous experiment, especially as you're essentially blind and deaf to the outside world!I'm undecided between a rift s and quest. The portability of the quest would be a small bonus but the headset would be 99% of the time just attached to the pc to play Assetto Corsa / Competizone.

No. I have the 64gb with the following installed: Vader Immortal (3 episodes), Walking Dead, Lies Beneath, Thrill of the Fight, Eleven Table Tennis. Not sure how much space I have left, but that’s plenty of games and once I finish one will delete it to make space if I want to download more. Is it worth paying the extra £100 to get the 256 GB version?
I tried one for the first time last night, playing Contractors. Now, I'm not a VR virgin and have had a Rift S for nearly 18 months, but I use mine exclusively sitting and attached to a fairly high powered gaming computer. Probably 95% of my time is on DCS or X-Plane, with the occasional lap or two on AC and exploring on Google Earth. My first impression playing contractors was how poor the graphics were. I know VR is all about the immersion, rather than the visual fidelity, but this seemed two or three generations old in terms of polygon count and texture quality. It was playable, but felt like something from the 90s. I enjoyed the ability to move around and turn 360 without worrying about wrapping up the cables. However, given that it is essentially running on a phone in terms of computing power it wasn't bad. Apparently there are better games, so I might have to give it another chance. I think the headset itself was pretty similar to my Rift S in terms of image quality, FOV, weight etc.
TLD; It was ok, but I don't think I'm their target audience. I'd rather put £300 towards a 3090 and PIMAX 8K.

Probably not, most of the games are pretty small (1-5GB) and there are a lot of experience-like games meaning once you finish them, there's little point going back. There are some larger AAA type titles though - Walking Dead:Saints and Sinners is around 10GB which I think is the largest current game. Could be an issue in the future I suppose to have 4 or 5 big titles on the go.Is it worth paying the extra £100 to get the 256 GB version?
More relevantly, I guess if you wanted to keep your entire library on the device at all times (some people seem to want to have every game they own installed at once on their gaming devices) there might be a point going for the larger size. Or you want to load TV and films onto it for traveling - it's actually very good just for watching video as there are a few player apps which simulate a big screen cinema and will play back most formats either off internal memory or a network share.
As 'built-in storage' upgrades go, £100 for 192GB is actually one of the better deals around.

I talked her into getting the Oculus and its been incredible. Meeting her in the VR world, it's so weird becoming an Avatar and standing in front of her chatting, and messing about. We got "caught" flirting.. was quite funny! It's such a shame you cant get yourself as an Avatar, like if you could 3D scan yourself and have that as an avatar.. that would be a HUGE game changer.
But such a good purchase.

Recently picked up a quest 2, but doesn't seem to be any major driving games, which I was surprised about.
I tried playing dirt rally via link which wasn't bad, but my PC can't push enough frames to make it enjoyable and I'm reluctant to open that can of worms.
Any tips on lesser known titles on the quest? Or is it a limitation of the hardware.
