The Goldeneye remake that never was
Discussion
I just read this story on the BBC
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-55949100
And it made me think back to the days of playing Goldeneye on the N64 with three mates on the one TV split screen while knocking back a few cans of Carlsberg and it has made me ponder yet again about what a great multiplayer it was.
I did play the "remake" a few years later on the Wii but in my opinion it wasn't really a remake at all but a poor game trying to milk the Goldeneye love of old.
Anyone else have a hankering to play it all over again in it's original glory?

Game of my childhood, this. There's a full playthrough on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0GinqO4lhU&ab...
Not that I can get the emulator working with the file, yet. But I'd love to have it up and running.
I'd pay good money to have it on an up to date system, stupid that they could never get the legals sorted.

Big heads and slappers only, maybe mines!
One shot kills and slappers only was our most amusing set-up. Frequently ended up with 3 of you crouched running around in a circle slapping constantly and hitting nobody, first to stop died pretty much
Obviously someone playing as oddjob was basically untouchable
I watched most of that YouTube run through and it was full of happy memories for me, such as my mate who was awesome at it showing me that enemies couldn't shoot over gaps in run ways as it didn't count as line of sight for them so you could just kill them without worrying!
I would still buy that game now.

Loved the game, completed it on all difficulties and unlocked all of the cheats (some of them were difficult to get, invisibility required you to complete Archives on 00 agent in under 30 seconds or something daft). I was lucky as I had three siblings to play with, but my dad used to like playing with us too.
Favourite was man with the golden gun on multiplayer, on complex level.
I equally liked perfect dark to be honest, it was a great game, and multiplayer included Bots so we could team up against bots which can be set to be extremely difficult. Such a good game.
Both these games led me into Halo on Xbox, probably the game series that I've spent the most time upon in terms of a first person shooter that is.

Bunker, 3 player, proximity mines.
Always ended up as a sort of king of the hill in the room with the tv's in it. Whoever was in there got ganged up on by the other 2 but with well placed mines it was hard for the 2 to break in!
Also the 1 hit kill slaps, anything in archives, and no bloody oddjob!

Lol, although there was another player 'moonraker elite' who was actually shorter than him, his hat made him a little taller Always ended up as a sort of king of the hill in the room with the tv's in it. The finest game ever made. Pistols only. Stack. No Oddjob.
Literal days if not weeks spent playing that game. We once rigged up a 4-way RF split cable into 4 screens (I remember my mother being distinctly unimpressed I was lugging my TV to Andys house) and the covered 3/4s of each screen so we could only see our own screen. That was a particularly long day/night session.
I feel old.
