Fortnite options (PS4)

I'm a bit behind the curve in terms of the different options for buying games, and my son wants fortnite for our PS4 to play with his friends online.

There seems to be quite a few options for what to actually buy - can anyone confim if this one includes the actual game, or whether it's just an add on pack and that there's another game I would still need to buy?

That is just an add-on pack with some in game currency.

Fortnite itself is free to download and play, although not sure if you would need a PS Plus subscription to play. (I'm on Xbox and it's a free to play without an Xbox Live subscription game now).

The costs come when the kids want the Battlepass or cosmetic items (as I've unfortunately found out)

I've managed to limit it to just buying the Battlepass (unlocks a decent selection of cosmetics the more you level up). Also gives "free" V-Bucks which is the in game currency. You can usually get about enough free V-Bucks to buy the next Battlepass for the next season (which usually lasts 3 months or more) providing they don't spend it on tat.

My lad has got bored with it so I've escaped the game for now.

Ah, OK, thanks. I wondered why I couldn't see many options, I thought it was cos its been around so long!

I think they'll be happy enough to get the basic game to be honest - and if they get birthday money maybe they can use that to get any upgrades
