I see the MP for this has launched early.

I've got it downloading, anyone played it yet?

Watched DrDisrespect playing it last night.

Is looks like everything COD/BF aren't: A simple well put together arena shooter with no gimmicks and no BS.

I dropped out of Halo years ago, but having had so much hope pinned on BF to then see the crock they came up with, I'm interested.

What's the deal with the MP? It's free for a limited time?

Thought MP is free forever and theyll monetise it the same way they do with Fortnite etc?

Looking forward to the campaign as I've done all the others except 5 Co op with my son. Already have game pass so all sorted there but considering a Series S for him at Xmas and I can have his xbox one s. Have a pc with a gtx 950 in it and will see if that can run it too.

I quite enjoyed it, good maps, nice graphics on my Series X. Quite refreshing to have to blast away at players before they go down (at least with the weapons I was using). This is technically a beta, although I believe progression will be carried over when it officially launches in December.

Seems to be free to play for all, not just Gamepass.

ETA: yes, there is the inevitable Battle Pass for ££

Free to play. Battlepass was a tenner the same as they always seem to be, but you get to keep it even after the end of the season and finish what ever you missed.

I only played 1 game just to see what it’s all about. I enjoyed it. TTK is lonnngggg compared to COD. Did a bit of sniping.

It felt very much like Halo.

Played a few more games this evening.

I like the gameplay.

The menus are a bit of a mess.

The battle pass is a joke (they seem to be getting a lot of criticism for this).

Looks great.

Maps play well (big and small).

I’d like more choice about what modes I’m playing.

Does it have skill based matchmaking?

You prefer no skill based matchmaking?

It's not the same system COD use, if that matters.

Yes I do.

Been playing FPS games since the days of counterstrike and I haven't played a single one where the SBMM enhanced the experience, most people dismiss this as you suck at the game or you just want to beat up on noobs (see above) but the reality isn't that at all. I like competitive games and in theory SBMM should facilitate this better than random matches but the fact is it doesn't seem to do a good job of it simply because of how the algorithms work:

A team of 2 very skilled players + a team of 2 low skilled players seems to be considered equal to 4 skilled players but the reality is that isn't a fair match at all, this can be mitigated some what by only allowing teams (parties) to play against other teams but unfortunately that leaves you in the situation where if you are good at games and want to have a chance you have to play with others who are just as good as you or it will suck for all of you since it is calibrated to the highest common denominator.

IMO you should leave the SBMM for ranked games and leave public lobbies as random simply because if you get an awful team and the matchmaking is random then that is unfortunate happenstance but if the same thing happens in with SBMM then you have to accept the fact that it was by design which sucks.

TL:DR Leave ranked as ranked and public games as random.

Last time I tried Halo MP was with Halo2 back in the day .... got absolutely wrecked every time I played, quickly lost all interest.

Still, I love the Halo games single player experience and if this is free, might as well get it to get a taste of the new Engine for whenever Inifite is released.

Just getting a few games in on this at the moment as its the first chance i have had to play it. Really enjoying it even though i have the original Xbox One.

Colours look a little washed out but it seems pretty decent so far smile

This is excellent. Absolutely loving the MP and was never a big fan of Halo online before. It is very well balanced and looks gorgeous running at 4K 120fps on my Series X. Also tried it on the PC (via gamepass) and was impressed with how it both plays and looks on there too. Servers have also been solid with plenty of people online and no issues.

For a free to play game it's pretty good. Looks good except being a little washed out. Predictably as I haven't played in years I died a lot, but it was a blast all the same.

Really want the campaign to be Botw but with guns and less climbing.

Hopefully the flood and its lazy swarm AI isnt in it

I spent a bit of time messing around with controller settings and it’s made a difference, starting to do a bit better now.
