Just started up a new run through - had all three original games but not all the DLC.

Omega was the only DLC I didn't have.

Looking forward to getting into it.

One of the best stories in gaming and even better with the DLC. It looks absolutely amazing on modern hardware too.

Just playing through again now. Not played ME1 in a dogs age....the combat hasn't aged well wink

Loving it though; and the music is just pure nostalgia.

It was worse on the original game!

The combat in 2 is a huge step up.

First few hours of replaying ME1 were rough, but once I got back into the swing of it I remembered why it was so enjoyable (and having played it before I could plan around the difficulty spikes). Yes it is a bit clunky and you'll spend as much time trying to sort your inventory as you will fighting, but the soundtrack, world building, customisation, characters (Garrus and Tali are always my favourites) are all top notch. Now on ME2, as said it controls a lot better and the story is still great, but does feel a bit dumbed down with your class or squad mates not making much difference due to having far fewer abilities.

Going from the last time I played it, ME3 still plays well but the plot makes no sense, even with the revised ending it's full of holes and contradictions. Still, a long journey is worth taking, even if you fall over just before the finish line.

I have just finished ME1. Trying to play differently to previously.

As Femshep I killed the Racist and kept Mr interesting. And was generally more of a bad ass.

No Romance though, Liara was going to get it.

Finished ME2 and it remains my favourite of the trilogy, I've completed it several times over the years and there are still some outcomes I had no idea were possible. The lack of customisation is still a disappointment though (and how you can't change your appearance in all 3 games - an entire galaxy to explore but not a single barber?) and the planet scanning is mind numbingly dull, but that aside it's great.

Now on ME3, and whilst it does play well and the return of weapon mods is welcome, it's the story that is the biggest issue. Still has some great moments and characters (except Kai Leng, who is awful), but feels like several things were put in because they looked cool rather than making any sense. Cerberus going from a shadowy, morally grey organisation to outright space Nazis with a vast army always bugged me, and the lack of Collectors means you could have removed their entire plot from ME2 and not changed the overall story. Plus there's several other odd design choices, like giving a role to that games journalist who couldn't act to save her life, or picking up missions by overhearing conversations, which break the immersion somewhat.

ME2 is the reason ME3 story is so rushed. You can literally play ME1 then ME3 and not really miss much of the plot.
ME2 is one (enjoyable, don't get me wrong) side mission.

After recommendation from Von and one of my friends, I downloaded ME legendary edition in December as it was pretty cheap. Really enjoying it, although there are lots of issues I have with it... It doesn't detract from the story etc. I completed ME1 and am just in the recruiting phase of ME2.

ME1 - main story missions are great, there just wasn't really enough of them for me. Loads of side missions but most of them are very repetitive... I.e. land on a planet, drive around kill some bad guys find some resources. They killed some time and were useful in terms of XP and credits etc to aid the main missions. I had it on Max difficulty but it was too easy for me.

Initially I thought the weapons upgrade system was a little faffy, but I much prefer it to ME2 where the upgrades and weapons variety is pretty poor save for the heavy weapon feature.

ME2 - decent step up in graphics and the gameplay/combat is much slicker. I'm not sure I chose the right class.... I went with soldier in ME1 but generally used pistol and sniper as much as I could. So in ME2 the Infiltrator seemed like a decent fit for me.. but it's so compromised by only having certain weapons. I'm getting better at using the cloak though and I'm playing on max difficulty which is quite challenging. Also whilst infiltrators are supposed to be stealthy, it's useless when the gameplay literally plonks you in the middle of a firefight where you have no choice but close quarters.

ME2 planet scanning is just rubbish... As is the fuel requirements. The side missions where you just fly around and hover over resources whilst holding a button is pretty rubbish too, but at least they are quick.

Despite my moans, I am really enjoying the games and am glad I took the plunge. It's delaying me getting Forza Horizon 5, maybe I'll get that just when the weekly time trials start Von... ?

Almost at the end of 3 and replaying the trilogy has definitely convinced me to replay Andromeda.

Spent a decent amount of time on the multiplayer (which I loved) but only played the story at release so I want to go back and see how it feels all these years later.

I'm taking my time working through 3, decided to use insanity difficulty throughout.

I have a problem now in that I really don't want the game to end, I'm really enjoying it. Is Andromeda related at all or is it entirely different characters etc? I've not googled it as I don't want to risk spoilers for NE3.

I'm struggling to think what Xbox game to try next after this. I'll definitely replay the trilogy again but probably give it a year.

Andromeda is set in a completely different universe, but is a very mediocre game and loses all the charm of the original trilogy

I quite liked Andromeda.

It's not a patch on the the first 3 games, but its OK.

The bugs in the launch editions were hilarious.

It can often be found for a couple of quid, so even if you decide you don't like it after a couple of hours, it's no great loss.

Nothing to do with the original games other than the same universe.

I think what the dev team wanted to do is have the Andromeda trilogy take place over decades and having the characters actually age through the games (which is why I think the characters are all so young) rather than the original trilogy where nobody really ages.

Just a shame that they rushed it and it was buggy as hell at launch because the gameplay is my favorite of all four games when you take into account the additional mobility and reworked power usage system.

Andromeda is very pretty:

It's a shame it's a convulted mess with far too many pointless, unfleshed out side quests and Ubisoft-itus. If they had made it more tighter focussed and less open world I think it would have been much better.
