Will Xbox One games play on Xbox X?

Hi all,

Firstly, I know nothing about games consoles!

I'm thinking of buying my son an Xbox Series X for his birthday. He currently has an Xbox One and I am wondering whether:

1) his existing games will play on the new Series X?
2) his current progress within these games will copy across?

He is quite far along with a few of his games (Forza, FIFA, etc) and ideally I wouldn't want him to have to start from scratch.

Digital download games play fine and your game save files are on the cloud so they just get downloaded when you sign in.

Apparently games on disc work fine too.

In answer to your questions, yes and yes. Everything just syncs across these days. And you can play games from Xbox original era all the way to present.
