Return to Monkey Island
Discussion
Looks like a release this year, from original maker of Monkey Island 1 and 2

I think it will sell bucketloads. Nostalgia is big business right now, but they need to keep the formula. Beyond a Steel Sky was good for example, but should have kept a more point and click feel I reckon.
Of course, a genuine Amiga version would be the icing on the cake for us retro nerds and with the A500 mini just coming out...

Has anybody shelled out for the games on iPhone/iPad? Have they translated well to touchscreens and worth the money?
I played the updated version of the original secret of Monkey Island that had better gfx and sound and speech and also could be flicked back to original version at any point during gameplay. I played it on ipad mini and it was a great experience. I note that when I try and download it again from my purchases on appstore it is gone and when I googled it, it looks like apple or lucasarts pulled it down so my purchase is lost. If you have a way of getting it then yes, it plays great on ipad. What I should have said is that you can get the scumvv emulator engine on your device and then download the original game and play it that way. i completed the secret of monkey island (not the updated version) a few months ago this way and enjoyed it. Takes a moment to get used to the controls as it isn't touch screen, instead you touch the screen to move the mouse pointer around. I own the original games and have them on steam too so didnt feel too bad downloading the game from a site so that it could play on scumvv.

Nice, thank you. 5 episode bundle available through the App Store in the UK for £12.99, with individual episodes at £4.49 each. Might give that a go tonight
I guess you are talking about Tales of Monkey Island, the 5 chapter Telltale series released in 2009?! Haven't played that one!
But the first 3 are probably my favourite game series of all time. Really looking forward to 'Return.'
Completed the original Summer 1991 on my Amiga, whick took me almost the whole Summer holidays I think! With no internet I remember ringing one of those pound-a-minute "push 1 if you are stuck on what to do with the rubber-chicken-with-a-pulley-in-the-middle" phonelines a few times and getting some heat from my parents over the bill!

A couple of years later completed Lechuck's Revenge on my mate's Amiga...he had a 2nd disc drive which was pretty much essential when faced with 12x discs which needed to be swapped every time you moved location.
Real shame that the Special Editions with voice cast were removed from the app store as they were perfect iPad games.
Recently got nostalgic about Monkey Island when I was explaining to my kids how Pirates of the Caribbean ripped off the best ideas from MI, and ended up showing them this which they loved https://youtu.be/y9bXjttMxKY
Altogether now "A pirate I was meant to be, trim the sails and roam the seas....."
Played the originals back on the Amiga when they first came out, bought the special editions a couple of years ago & loved replaying them.
Hopefully they can rekindle the humour of the first two as the 3rd one wasn't quite up to standard.
BTW if you have Amazon Prime Monkey Island 2 is one of the free games you can get this month.

Thanks for that - stupid question but how do you get it on Prime? I went into the normal Amazon and there are only options to buy it, I clicked Prime only and there is nothing. probably missing something obvious lol.Hopefully they can rekindle the humour of the first two as the 3rd one wasn't quite up to standard.
