If you want to check your system out without downloading huge GBs of that City demo.

This is what it looks like - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7FupEUw5q0

Link to 1.9GB self running (doesn't need UE5 stuff first) first person walkaround demo, 2 Biomes (Summer and Winter) walk around change settings see what FPS you have.

Looks stunning, but I guess we're going to need a RTX5090Ti or RX8950 and a 2000w PSU to actually be able to play at 4k and more than 60fps!

Well, that's my Christmas 2024 present sorted smile

I have a 3080 and it seems to be about 50fps on very high.

Do you have it on TSR quality = balanced or quality?

If I copy your settings it seems to sit around 68-70, should it be higher?

Sounds about right, FPS will vary depending on full system specs and which bit of the biome you are in too.

I also saw no difference between the summer and winter biomes.

I started watching this thinking "it needs an elder scrolls soundtrack"... and then heard one of Skyrim's ambient scores.

Amazing demo... the melody segment at 1:02 always makes me think of Emmerdale hehe

UE5 and Quixel all for free (for demos/freebies) really is a game-changer.

Tempted to start going some stuff in it now.

Quixel trees especially will make it easier to do nature all in one, without buying extra assets.

And nvidia doing their USD stuff, and AI generally with diffusion on image/text, animation/text, 3D/text pairs…
And I’ve seen some nvidia tools taking old games and using PM AI to update them, quite nice for early days.
Now we have millions of real scans it won’t be long until we can iterate 3D based on PM AI.

In 5 years you’ll just type in stuff to UE6, like “forest with mountains, etc etc” and it’ll just create it all for you.

Tie it in with iPhone 14 pro with laser scans and all that jazz, and you’ll be taking rough scans with your phone of an item, and a PM AI will retopo the asset, create appropriate diffuse/gloss maps etc, and so on.

All very cool.

The value of 3D is going to crash though, especially in the nature/natural content world.

A long time ago, I remember being really disappointed that I couldn't push the chest outside the room in Knightlore

I didn't notice the environment responding to the person walking around, I'd have liked to have seen the plants moving as they pushed past them.

Just made me think back to the chest smile
