Looks like we now know which ending in canon - and I'm all down for the fact that Ciri is the lead; follows on nicely from W3 and means we may still get old-man Geralt in the new one!

Be interesting to see how they get over the lore element that only men can be Witchers. Will be a long time before we find out, still in the very early stages of development....so guess we'll all check back in 2028.

Doug Cockle (Geralt) is the voice in the trailer, if he can tear himself away from Yennefer or Triss or both in his retirement he may be there in an advisory or flashback part. Doug had his last treatment for prostate cancer recently so he's still around for it.

I only recently finished W3, then read the whole series - finished a few weeks ago.
I made Ceri Empress, and went Team Triss... after reading the books and so learning lots more about many of the characters, I now know both those were poor choices for the original series.
I'm not about to spend the best part of another year's game time re-playing W3... but that trailer is just right.

I'm seriously looking forward to this already and I thought I'd had enough Witcher to be going on with for a good while!

I'm looking forward to it, but unless there's some youtube compression issues on the IGN stream that doesn't look like a very high quality demo to me.

Although I did notice the resolution wasn't mentioned, nor whether it was native FPS...just "standard PS5 at 60fps with ray tracing"...so it might be 1080p or even an upscaled 4k with FSR/frame gen.

Original 4k source here (Witcher4 tech demo starts at 34m)...

Nice. Hope the PS5 is remotely close to that.

Well it's supposed to be from a "standard PS5 at 60fps with RT on". But the resolution and whether there's any fake frames or upscaling happening was not mentioned.

I saw this pop up on YouTube earlier, why IGN decided to upload it at 1080p, I'll never know.

The tech demo looks good in 4K but this is clearly a heavily cultivated slice of 'gameplay', I'd be surprised if it looks half as good on a PS5.

Totally agree. It's a technical demonstration of the engine, it most definitely isn't gameplay footage.

I fear they may have shot themselves in the foot here.

Anyone remember the pre-launch Cyberpunk tech demo and how well that launch went?!

Oh yes... absolutely caused cyberpunk to crash and burn on release. Shame as its actually quite good now patched, but first impressions count.

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally developed using CD Projekt Red's internal engine, REDengine 4, you cant compare with the ability with Unreal Engine 5.6. I am in alpha of Ashes of Creation and that is using earlier version of unreal engine 5.0 and my old 2080 card is usable on 3440x1440 at medium options. I need to upgrade get the best out of it but I am full expecting the demo on PS5 to be like they are showing in video.
