Playstation Network down - hack underway?

Looks like PSN had an unexpected outage last night and it is still ongoing...

Not very promising, and hopefully not going to lead to any user issues (other than inconvenience)!

Apparently caused by “an operational issue”. So more a mistake rather than a hacking attempt.

“PlayStation is giving all PlayStation Plus members five extra days. The extension will automatically be added to all plans.”

So that’s nice.

Sony made a profit if 3.5 billion JUST from PSplus in 2023, that should cover their server costs surely, or is there another reason why they need that much money from you to play online?

You sound fun, and judging by your other thread very tight. It’s optional to pay to play online. Don’t like it don’t pay.

Hardly, most games are designed in some way to be played online, and as I play perfectly happily on the PC routinely without paying I find it odd, seems like the rest fo the world is happy to be taxed to play online, their loss, Sony are laughing all the way to the bank.
