I watched a YT video on this yesterday, and some of the comments were pretty funny. Just so blind to what was going to happen. Many thinking, still, that tariffs would just be absorbed by the companies and consumers would still pay the same price as ROW.

Things like:

This is Nintendo's fault
There's no way it's worth $600
I wasn't going to buy it before, and I'm definitely not going to buy it now
Waaaaah
etc

And this is just the very very beginning

I mean, where do they think PS5s are from?

Does the US have manufacturing for Sony, but not for Nintendo?

i wonder whether that's a factor too.

Suspect that AI answer around Vietnam might be a little behind the curve given their tariff is even worse than Chinas

I think the reason it's come up is that Vietnam have offered to drop all tarrifs on America, if America will do the same for them. Not going to happen, I think.

Still, the fallout from this is proving amusing. A lot of Americans seem to think that because they're the ones starting the trade war, that somehow their prices won't increase at the tills.

Stupidity is endemic. They'll still blame China and co for retaliating. They'll get the blame for any price increases, in the minds of the feckless and self-serving masses who voted Trump in in the first place.
