xbox 360 - please help

I cant seem to get the second wireless controller to connect. The first one always chooses a slot (out of the 4, and the corresponding light lights up) but the second controller cant seem to lock on, and find its place as being the second controller. Help!?!

Have you pressed the little wireless "find" buttons on the top of the controller & front of the console ?
