PS2 Repair

Saw something in here ages ago about advance repairs from Sony on the PS2. Fer Jr. old style PS2 is playing up, making lots of noises (disk seeks, etc) when trying to play games. I am sure I saw something on here about sending them back to Sony for a replacement (about £50), which is cheaper than a new one (and better than the offer to trade in all our games for an X-box and 3 games!).

Help, please.
