The Pistonheads GT Legends league commences! robbed directly from the original league GTR league format by FourWheelDrift

Racing will be in two classes, '65 and '76, with points counted seperately for each class.

Weight penalties

None available in GTL - we'll have to think of another way - Neil

Race format

Race meet starts at 8:00pm, meeting in lobby beforehand if possible.

15 mins of practice
15 minutes of Qualifying
30 minutes race.

Compulsory pit stops.

1 compulsory stop for '76 class only no compulsory stops for '65 class

Points in each class:
1st - 10
2nd - 8
3rd - 6
4th - 5
5th - 4
6th - 3
7th - 2
8th - 1

1 Point for fastest qualifying lap, 1 point for fastest lap during race.

(so it's alway worth hanging on in a race as pretty much everyone will score points in every race.)

Championship order:

05.02.06 - Anderstorp GP
12.02.06 - Dijon Prenois GP
19.02.06 - Donington GP (national if it's the preferred choice)
26.02.06 - Hockenheim GP
05.03.06 - Imola
12.03.06 - Magny Cours GP
19.03.06 - Modello Park International
26.03.06 - Monza GP
02.04.06 - Nurburgring GP
09.04.06 - Spa Francorchamps GP
16.04.06 - Zolder

ok comments and corrections in this thread please, I (or a mod) will update this thread as appropriate. I'm not sure about weight penalties in the first instance, and donington GP vs. National is up for debate I imagine.

We can then have a thread for each race meet as it comes up if required.

Don't bet on it !!
1: It looks like FWD is returning
2: I have a feeling Mark Barton will be quick when (if) he returns
3: Some of the regulars have already beaten me, multiple times, others have given me a good race.
4: If GTL is anything like GTR for car reliability, I'll have a fair number of DNFs
5: And this is the most important, I crack under pressure

Are we having compulsory pitstops ?

I'm currently racing with another League, Wednesday nights, whats the deal with joining this league?

I've got the password already but not raced with any of you guys yet, but I'm clean and fast!

The deal is that you need to be a regular PHer, a fair racer, and a small donation toward the running of the server is encouraged in order to stay in the loop when it comes to changes in password etc.

Chaps,

I've changed the server so that the courses we are racing in the league are loaded in order.

10 laps ok?

sounds ace Dobbo, what about if the 65 cars actually win a race overall? do you think they should they get extra points?

maybe fastest lap gets an extra 2 points as well, this could encourage the leaders to still press on if they've had an off that puts them at the back (or have suffered damge by someone elses error, NEIL!)

ps - hate Anderstorp 1:43 in Pantera toooo many constant radius corners for heavy cars guess I'll be at the back with Diver for this one

10 laps is fine for the midweek, spur of the moment races, but I think for the Sunday League, we need to have a 30minute race. This means we'll have to workout roughly how many laps for each circuit depending on laptimes.

I think Anderstorp should be 15 laps of circa 1:45mins

In that case then, shall I leave it as it is during the week, allowing us to practise on each track as we wish, and then I'll restart the server at 8 on Sunday for just the track that night, with the approriate amount of laps???

Nice one Neil!

PV you are right about laptimes and also qualifying should get a point - the original league had this I just forget to add it.

Also, if a 65 wins overall... interesting.... since the leagues are seperate scoring an extra bonus isn't as useful as it could be. However if someone wins in a 65 they should get something, if only the biggest bragging rights ever.

Discussions on Pitstops? I've put 2 for '76 and one for '65 but does 2 pitstops seem like a lot for a 30 minute race?

Should we say one for each class?

I don't think we should have pitstops as the tyres will essentially last forever on all the cars. It's not wear you feel when you start to lose grip - your tyre temps are just too high. If you slide a lot the tyres get hot and they start to go off. Back off for a few laps and the grip will come back as they cool down.

For longer races some of the cars need fuel stops but others (GT40, alfa) don't...

It'd be good to try to give the 65 cars a chance to be competive with the 76 ones... so FWD's suggestion sounds good, if the 76s had one pitstop and the 65 cars had none then that'd give the GT40 a chance!

Sorry CHaps, don't know if anyone noticed but the server must have rebooted - I've reloaded the server so you should all be cool now.

Won't happen again
