Is it possible to pre-order yet? If so who's a reputable outfit to use

They are aiming for a Global launch in November - so expect them to be very scarce

Get your deposits in early to avoid dissapointment

edit - so... is the system supposed to be just as powerful as the 360, or more so?

don't even go there

I think the general consensus is that it will have more potential but it may take longer to tap into it. It's the Nintendo Revolution which has significantly lower specs.

Agreed, but to answer the original question, yes, on paper it has more power (twice as much apparently).

That being said I dont think it will take longer to get there as such, just in appearence maybe (ie, if both were released at the same time then both would be at full potential round about the same time). 360 has the head start, but why the rush, given the potential it might well be worth the wait

PS3 will get my money as I currently have xbox and Ps2 and far prefer the Sony. 360 no doubt is a brilliant console, but long term the GT series holds more interest than the Forza series.

ps. the website thinkgeek.com had PS3's available for imeadiate shipment the other day... think it was Saturday? yup, it was, Saturday 1st of April

Will be an interesting fight to watch

I prefer sony myself, Ive never* owned a console which suffered from frame rate issues or crashed... till I got my 360.

*I lied. You could crash the PS1 playing doom by opening every door (on a particular outdoor level) and letting 200 monsters chase after you, followed by a black screen of death and an error message.

Following the price premium on the 360s at launch I shall be preordering from as many places as possible. The only game I use my PS2 for is GTA, so I guess the 360 will continue to be my main machine.

TBH my 360 hasn't crashed once, the only problem I have is playing Forza. The frame rate and sound can be a bit iffy.
