Firstly...
...is the full game free yet, for I downloaded the shareware element to this over 10yrs ago an loved it, but upon getting to 'volume 1s' end i couldnt get any further, as i recall some big mutha-fukker there kept killing me, with all by booty of weapons having no effect on it.
an then upon being killed a screen caption says i need to buy volume 2 to continue, an so assume without this following part i'd never get any further.
but back then i couldnt afford the remainder of the game an so left it at that.
but recently i came across the zip file of it i archived years ago on cd, an then wondered that with this game being circa 1993, maybe its remainder is also free by now, some place?

so any pointers as to how i'd be able to continue dukes adventures?
...and no, i dont feel like paying for half a game thats over 10 years old!

"shake it baby"

Secondly...
i got 3 new problems, as posted below on 5th april-2006...

------------
edited, as old problem now fixed, ie-
when i goto run this it ends up saying it cant initialise something called 'mpu-401'. so how do i get this old game to work as it used to last decade?

mpu-401...i remember that from when i had this game. It's something to do with Sound Cards / drivers IIRC. Do a google

"Come get some!"

Used to love this game!

I'm guessing you'll need a double boot machine with 98 / DOS on it - doubt it'll run properly in Win32.

MPU-401 was the MIDI interface - you'll need to run SETUP.EXE and change the sound to soundblaster or something...

Used to love selecting "foot" as weapon and then using backslash or whatever to kick with the other foot - so you could be kicking with both feet at the same time

Dark Forces was another good one if you were into Star Wars.

I remember playing this (when I was about 11 too) and when you pressed space you gave the dancers a $10 bill and they flashed at you Spent most of my time doing that instead of killing aliens..... Also, there were some geishas in a room somewhere that looked like statues and you could give them money and they'd flash at you too

Doubt you'd be able to get the full game anywhere, legally, free, but I'm sure Game or Gamestation (or Amazon) would be able to find you it for a fiver or less.

Only to get a drink!

I used to rule at this game! I liked kicking people to death with both my feet.

MPU401 aswell as been the MIDI interface is also the socket you plug a joystick into. Part of the audio card features. Try reinstalling the audio drivers. Or diabling joystick control in the game.

Ah, the joys of that game. I was probably 14 at the time and did much the same most evenings

Was damn good in LAN too, setting up them laser trip mines, and the SHRINK gun too, then you could go stamp on people! Ahhh, classic multiplayer fun

Any links to that? I have an SPV C500. Had a Doom port on it for a while, but very slow and buggy.

Try a search on Yahoo. He thinks it was http://smartphone.modaco.com or something similar. You have to join up for it but it's free.

yes true, an i 'did' get this fixed by deleting the original cfg file an generating a new one via its setup prog.

BUT
my 3 pissed-of points are...

[1] when going to play it for a 3rd time today it now dont work!
an says... 'its possibly due to an invalid or conflicting DMA channel' - in which case then, why the fukk did it work before an decide it cant now, when i didnt change any DMA setting!? - duhh?
are its programers born a$$holes or what?

[2] also i cant run it on another pc of mine as it says it cant find the sound card port, even tho ive told it where it is as ive put it inside the autoexec file for bootup, eg- set blaster=A220 I5 D1 etc...

[3] while the adult penthouse paradise add-on dont work either as it says it cant find its 'penthous.map file' even tho its already in the damn games folder i'm running it from! [duhh]

so any help please, before i plant a bomb underneath beds of the games programers or maybe its bill gates fault, i dunno
