The Logitech Momo (PC only) is known to develop some wear, so I bought a refurbished one from eBay and it's fine, but for the Driving Force Pro you are after there is nothing specific to look out for when buying.. seems to be a good wheel, no particular faults or anything.
You should be looking to get a racing seat set up, and a shifter too!

I think that's the red (wheel) one, the black one is better.
Fair enough, think there have been one or two troubles I have seen with the Black one, but there are bound to be problems with them in some cases! Think the Pedals are the fault.
Actually I saw the ultimate cockppit at the mg sports and racing auction..

DOh just got that one.... I've just picked up the dog box 500 quid for a quick once over on that one, im hoping the rebuild on the synchro box is going to be a lot less...

The Logitech DFP is ace. I only downloaded the correct driver last night, having used it without the proper force feedback for some time. Correctly installed there's a level of information, and sensation, that makes driving much easier and way, way more fun!
BTW, does anyone know how to set the driving force pro up with about 400° of turn instead of the 900 or 200 options I seem to have at present? I found this advice from Homeboy Wu at Racesimcentral:
I've figured out a way to get the most out of DFP's, steering lock wise:
1. Set DFP rotation to full 900 degrees in control panel.
2. Set steering linearity to fully linear in game (whatever game, that is).
3. Set steering lock to maximum in game.
4. Drive. If it feels too unresponsive, goto 5. If it feels too sensitive, goto 6. If it's spot on, drive some more
5. Reduce DFP rotation in control panel a little then goto 4.
6. Reduce steering lock in game a little then goto 4.
You'll reach a setup that has either the DFP's rotation range OR in-game steering lock maxed out. You're at your most comfortable steering ratio with the max usable front wheel deflection specific to that ratio.
This will be the most comfortable, but may not be the most realistic. The most realistic setup may not be comfortable anyway.

If you are using v4.6 of the profiler software (recommended) then you can set the wheels max lock to anywhere between 200 and 900 degrees either in the OPTIONS/GLOBAL DEVICE SETTINGS panel, or for specific games you go to EDIT/SPECIFIC GAME SETTINGS.
Its the best FF wheel out there at the moment, although British based BRD ( www.interactiveracing.com ) are releasing what will probably become the benchmark later this year. Robust doesnt begin to describe it!

Not the best FF out, there are some others closer to the BRD one, but nowhere near the quality of this Speed7 Wheel when it is release..
About £800 though

I dont think theres any Force Feedback wheel out there at the moment that can beat the driving force pro, the nearest rival to it is probably one of the Momos.
the BRD wheel will probably be the best FF wheel out there when its released, their non FF stuff is great (i use a set of Speed 7 pedals here with my DFP, and have an old set of Pro pedals and an F1 Sim Pro wheel), but until then, ill commend the logitech DFP as being the best Force Feedback wheel on the market. Im a force feedback convert ever since a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback wheel replaced my BRD F1 Sim wheel on my desk, so whilst there are people out there who love their TSWs and ECCIs, i personally dont put much stock in any non FF device, they are (obviously) devoid of feedback and just feel dead to me.
The FREX kit looks like a nice addition to the driving force pro, and the people who use it on the whole love it. It looks like a great upgrade to the wheel.
