) You need to load a special save game onto you memory stick. When you load the save game it can boot some code up. This provides you with a loader for other code (emulators, etc).
Works fine upto 2.6 now, but you can't run kernel mode stuff - this generally doesn't matter any more, but there are a few things out there that needs kernel mode to run properly.
