Anyone else use the external car view for racing and does the internal view give you an advantage.

I use external view for online racing, in GTL I found the inside view actually made me feel a bit sick, but have tried it a bit more and got used to it, however I am still quicker with the external view and it helps to see those alongside you, though I have to use the rearview to see behind.

Internal always, with the steering wheel turned off, vertex mirror on (not the rear view and wing mirrors) and the bigger HUD dials turned on.

In Gran Turismo and all previous racing games I used the behind the car cam, but when I got my Wheel for GT4 I dicided I didn't like it and the nose cam gave a much better sense of speed

With GTL I find the nose cam too low and the cockpit view too restrictive and a bit low. However I am getting used to it slowly as and when I play on those hardcore servers that mandate cockpit view it.

So in GTL I like the bonnet cam

I can lap a 'bit' quicker with the cockpit view but I find it harder to judge when people are alongside you, even when looking left and right.

For races I use the bonnet cam view as that gives a much better idea of whats going on around you

Cockpit - only because I'm used to it, and I prefer the 'look'. You can oversteer a bit better in it too I feel...

I used to use the interior view but now use the exterior as I was told it increases your frame rate. Mine went up by about 10-15 fps......

The only problem is that there is no rear view mirror so you have to use the 'rear view' button lots ! Can you get a mirror on external view ??

Yes.

Start the game and go into Options then Advanced and there is a box to tick for 'virtual mirror'

I use the bonnet-cam mainly... however can really use any view to race as I have got used to them all in different games.. Cockpit won't put me off but I do find it harder to get a feel for the other cars around me and where exactly I am on track after getting used to the hood, and for that reason I think it slows me down a bit!

Which reminds me..

ANYONE KNOW HOW TO ENABLE THE VIRUAL MIRROR AND THE WING MIRRORS AT THE SAME TIME?

I find that its hard for me to pick up braking points on external view.
But the inside car is hard to see out.

So I go for bonnet cam as its a good compromise, especially with the virtual rear view mirror.

I'm a bumper cam kinda guy. As long as it's the right field of view, I can usually plant the car a lot better.

I generally prefer the incar, but that could be as I use the games to learn the tracks for real races, and also it relates better to my track experience...

I used to use outside view for learning the tracks and drifting in the GT series, then inside view to race as it felt much quicker.

If thats referring to me using a 6 foot screen You'll pleased to know it seems to have slowed me down somewhat.

I've just spent a couple of hours trying to find a resolution that isn't blurry, best so far is 800 x 600 which is nearest to the native reolution of the projector. I'd get a higher def projector but this one is great for watching broadcast TV and DVDs.

Nice one
I would buy one myself but you know.. Poor Student etc
Need to buy a real car yet - or worse still, insure one.
