Just got a DFP! What settings do others use?
Discussion
Finally got a Driving Force Pro, put the wingman drivers on and wow..its awesome
GTL is transformed from keyboard playing, really is so detailed how you can pick up the cars traction (particually under hard braking i notice it alot over the keyboard - probably as abs is now off!)
Been playing for an hour this eve and i can now finally lap the Alfa GTA and the Escort RS fairly consistently (albeit a bit safley in the RS). Tweeked the settings now so its much better than out the box.
Just wondering what you all have the settings on? In the windows cpl app i have 360degrees of motion. 100% everything except 25% centering spring. Then in GTL, full feedback with 75% strength.
I found if the centering was much higher and the strength higher it is a bit stiff and so whacking on lock is a bit slow/tricky. (I cant be that violent with it as waking babies post 10pm is not a good habbit!!) Anybody running theres similar?
Also, what 76 cars do you all use? Ive only brought the Escort for now as i love them.
+Who and how much do i pay to run with the PH'rs online??
Thanks

Er, we use all the cars as most of us unlocked them all via a small amount of file alteration
I got my DFP yesterday as well, but so far have only tested it with gt4. Having previously used a ps2 pad for both gt4 and gtl, the difference is quite astounding. Whilst you have to fight with it a bit more, the fact that you know when you have to fight makes you realise when you're pushing too hard. I've already got more golds on gt4 licences than I would have ever got with a pad! Can't wait to get it on the pc.
Stick or paddles?

I haven't unlocked them! I am earning them, the old-school way.
Also if you've spent money on them it makes you drive them more to get your moneys worth - even if they're rubbish! That's why you'll sometimes see me online taking on the Cortinas and Alfas with a Jag Mk 2
. The jag can be fast and fun actually when you're used to it.

You only need 180 degree's on the DFP for GTL really, so the PC wheel vs in-game steering wheel ratio is ~ 1:1
It's a great wheel, my only gripe is that it's slow and strong. I'd much prefer it to be able to rotate itself twice as quickly, but with half the torque. In games where you want 900 degree's of lock, and you flick the back-end out, you have to help the wheel turn into the slide to catch it. In real life a steering wheel can zip from lock to lock in a second, but the DFP takes about 3 or 4 seconds
Tempted to open it up and put in a faster less torquey motor, since I find the wheel being so small vs a real car makes it strong enough anyway! Use anything near it's max torque settings and it moves the bloody desk!
You don't really need self-centring. That is a function of the game, not the wheel. Aligning moments in GTL should self-centre the wheel anyway. So I just run 100% wheel strength, then everything else to 0%

You want the wingman drivers off the logitech page, then plug it in!
Right, trying not to hijack here, but it is on topic i suppose. Using the default settings and 100% ff in gtl, cars are good and fun to drive. However, loaded up gtr and used the same settings. Jumped in a murci gt and the thing was so hard to drive approaching vmax! Are my settings wrong or are they actually that hard to drive?
Dont have GTR so cant comment, did find lots of info on setting up DFp through google - 270 degrees in windows seems popular and various settings most of which felt too light for me.
There is lots of info out there but i am still experimenting to get level of feedback right. Also learning tracks and car set up and racing skills so not given it my full attention and not happy yet.
Waiting for others with more expeience to comment
