ive got stuck in grand theft auto SA - why??

Ive got well down the missions, and I think Im on the one from last.
Ive returned to my original hood after hanging around the casino missions for a while.
and I have to get some homeies and head off to kill something or other.

But I cant recruit anyone. All the net guides just say, recruit 2 homies and go...
I suspect I dont have enough respect to recruit. any thoughts?

Have you taken over all the other "hoods"? That'll build up a bit of respect

To recruit them you have to target them and then press something, I think its up on the d-pad but I can't remember.

Sure, ive recruited much earlier on, but the option isnt there now.

I'm stuck on the mission where you need to photograph the guys meeting from the rooftop.

Didnt have a problem there. Its been a long time I cant remember the exacts, but you need to get a few shots of a few guys iirc, so look around after taking the first shot. I think one of them walks down an alley when the other turns up.

I gave up on GTA:SA, on the last mission I cannot for the life of me pick up the sodding fire extinguisher and in another mission I can't pick up the satchel charges. The game just won't let me pick them up therefore I can't continue in the mission
